as far as I know some football player was charged with running dog fights in his back yard or something and people are going ******* bonkers!!! people want him dead for causing the dogs sooooo much pain and of course everybody forgets about the countless other countrys who kill and even eat dogs and other animals just because its fun also what about all of the hunters shooting deer all the time? they dont eat the damn thing so why are they shooting them? but nobody complains about them.

and finaly of course people have to bring race into the situation because the football player happen to be black. people start claiming that all black people like to watch dog fights and so on. but thoese same people get mad at us when we said OJ was not guilty ( AND GUESS WHAT HE STILL DIDNT DO IT) and say that we like to pull the race card for everything I guess what im trying to say is that why are people tratring him like so serial killer THEY ARE JUST DOGS THERE NOT PEOPLE HES MAKING FIGHT

first off Im only defending him because of all of the racist shi.t hes geting I dont know the guy and I hate football but I really hate it when people make a big deal out of nothing and start a whole bunch of racist ****. he was acused of a petty crime so he should (If hes guilty)
1.) do the time or pay the fine
2.)thats it

and for other countries what they do is our business why do you think we are in war with another country? why do we trade with them?
also there are people who want him kicked off of his team. for what?! im no sports fan but i bet my wii that there is no rule against hurting dogs in a football handbook.

also so the **** what if i want do defend him am I just expected to lay down and do nothing everytime a black person is being treated like this? and it shouldnt matter If he is famous or not. If famous people have to live up to some higer standard than they should be able to get away with high stuff too it goes both ways

Dog fighting is illegal in every state and, if I remember correctly, a felony in all but Idaho and Wyoming. The FBI and the IRS just raided the home of Alaska's pasty-faced white US Senator, the longest serving Republican in the Senate. Paris Hilton served about 20 times the standard sentence for her crime which is usually a day in jail for her neck of the woods.

You know, it goes around. Justice is not blind and it is frequently racist and frequently hits the poor much harder than the wealthy. It is getting a little better.

First, from your question it sounds like you at least agree that making dogs fight and otherwise abusing animals for entertainment is a bad thing. Yes, it happens a lot and in lots of places, and yes, there are some borderline activities that sort of sit the fence between right and wrong... but if you agree that in general, this is a bad thing, then I would hope we could agree that anyone caught doing it - regardless of sex, race, religion, country, etc. should be held responsible for these actions.

With that said, I think the reason *I* am upset with Mike Vick doing this is that he knowingly participated in illegal activities when he has SOOO much going for him. He's an incredibly talented athelete who's made it to the big time, yet he risked doing something which could (and did) get him into a lot of trouble. Now his career is called into question. Seems like a pretty stupid thing to do.

Second, he is a celebrity, and, I'm sorry to say this, but yes, it does come with some responsibilities. I'm not saying they all have to keep their noses clean all the time, but maybe just avoiding the insanely stupid activities (this would fall in that category) is a small price to pay for the respect of his peers and fans.

Third, you say they are just dogs, and that may be true for you but if you or Mike can't understand that your view is not universally supported you are as clueless as you appear to be for even asking this question. Supporting and upholding a view that you may not share is a price we pay to live in this society.

And, by the way, there are some benefits to hunting, as much as I find the sport distasteful.

Finally - didn't you learn this in 5th grade? - just because someone else is doing something doesn't make it OK. Stop for a minute and think about all the societal "norms" that have been tolerated using exactly that reason as an excuse. I would think, if you are going to cite race arguments, that you could think of several.

What a surprise, of course you'd defend him. The race card is ALWAYS played when a black guy is involved (it's getting a little old...) Oh boo hoo, the guy made millions and had everything going for him, and was also involved in a little dogfighting (probably still would be today except he got caught!) on the side...but wait, I forgot, everyone's out to get him because, no one loves animals, in fact, the world just hates him 'cause he's a black guy. How silly of me!

The reason why people are outraged (as they should be) is that Vick gambled, and ran, an illegal dogfighting business. While he and his buddies were making big bucks, those dogs were meeting their death and being treated atrociously. People (the normal, non-deranged ones) hold animals closely, and in special places, in their hearts. To be honest, I was more upset that it was animals than if it had been people.

If you really have to claim this is racist, and you don't understand why "people are making such a big deal out of the mike vick thing", then you're just as bad as the morons who were involved in this. Go spend some time at a dogfighting ring. Visit some pitbulls that were rescued from this messed up "sport" and imagine what their life was like. Then get back to us.

I can't wait until his image is more tarnished than ever, and I strongly hope all companies continue to drop him. It's too bad Vick will never know what it feels like to have what he did to those poor creatures, happen to himself.

The big deal is that dog fighting is illegal and cruel! The people who participate are letting dogs injure and kill each other (and the killing is neither quick nor painless) and do not give them proper medical attention. They use other helpless dogs as "bait" animals to teach them to be vicious. Another large part of the Vick outcry is the horrendus things he did to his dogs who did not "preform" well. How can a sane human being feel okay about bashing a dog on the floor until it dies, or soaking it in water and electricuting it?

There isn't much we can do about how other countries act towards animals. We do not create their laws.

As for compaing dog fighting to deer hunting....it's like comparing a shark bite to a hang nail. I'm not sure where you come off thinking that deer hunters don't eat what they kill. I am an avid deer hunter, in fact my dinner was venison (deer) sloppy joes made from the last deer that my finacee killed. If people don't hunt the deer will become over populated causing there to be many, many more car deer crashes, causing deer to wander into populated places spreading disease and reaking havoc and they will die of disease and starvation. It is much more humane for me to shoot a deer and kill it than it is to let it wander around for weeks trying to find sufficient food. You will find very few hunters that only do it for the sport.

It is sad that the race card gets played, but it has been happening for many years and will probably continue to happen for many years. It is unfortunate, but it is life...deal with it. The people that think because Vick participated in dog fighting that all black people do are ignorant.

I am having trouble seeing your correlation between Vick and OJ, so I am just going to leave that generalization alone.

They may be just dogs to you, but studies have proven that people who are continuously cruel to animals usually move onto to humans. Call me crazy, but I really don't want to know what this man would do to a child who didn't do what he trained it to do. I certiantly do not want anything to do with someone who sees nothing wrong with torturing and killing animals.

I guess you have never had a dog. Personally, I couldn't care less if he's black or whatever. I care that he's violent enough to enjoy abusing animals. There is ample evidence that people who abuse animals are likely to abuse and hurt people, too. They are sociopaths, and aren't able to empathize with an animal or a human. That is part of the reason a person like this is so dangerous. I do not wish Michael Vick would be put to death, because that doesn't make sense. I do want him to be punished, though, because he took puppies and dogs that never did anything to him and abused and killed them in disgusting ways, just for money. Money he didn't need, at that! $50,000 is nothing to him, so I have to think that he did it because he enjoys watching animals suffer. And that sort of person is dangerous to society.

On the other side of this is that anyone who's ever had a dog understands how great they are. They are loyal to you to their last breath, something you can't say for most people. They are loving, caring, and they weren't put here for people to torture.

If you don't think this is a big deal, search online for a copy of the indictment against Vick. In it, it details everything he's accused of. That includes fighting dogs to the death, using tiny puppies as bait for fights, killing dogs who weren't fit to fight, and keeping them in abusive conditions. I know all this sounds abstract, but what the indictment is talking about is specifically killing a puppy by body slamming him to the ground, electrocuting a dog, drowning them, fighting them until they can't fight anymore and letting them bleed to death. If you read all that and still think it doesn't matter because they are "just dogs", then I'd remind you you are in the minority about this issue, and maybe there's something wrong with you.....

Yes, in other countries people do eat dogs. People do kill deer, but you are mistaken about them not eating it (they do). But what goes on in another country is outside of our reach. I am sure that if someone could stop it, they would. However, we live in the U.S., and our people here are held to OUR standards, not those of a foreign country. Our standards are that animals are not there for someone to torture, maim and abuse. Vick caused the agonizing suffering of so many dogs. He deserves to be punished for it.

I don't believe Michael Vick should be treated any different whether he's black or white. I don't understand why black people are so quick to defend him, even though the evidence against him is overwhelming. He is paying for what he did because it was brutal and cruel, not because he's black.

I don't care how famous or what color you are, dog fighting is down right cruel.

As far as hunters, you are talking two very different things here bud. A good hunter kills fast, the animal suffers very little. Every hunter I know (and its quite a few) either eat the deer themselves, or give the deer to others who like venison but don't care to hunt. Either way, the deer gets used. If there were no controlled hunts, and they are controlled, the deer population would explode, and since we've wiped out nearly all of there natural predators, they'd slowly starve to death.

Again it has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with cruelty.

If Michael Vick was JUST "running dog fights in his backyard", I really wouldn't have paid much mind to his case. However, he was charged with electrocuting, drowning, and other things that are far more disgusting than just simply making a dog fight. He was torturing dogs with his bare hands, and THAT is why people are making a big deal out of it. I don't want him dead - I've stepped on dog **** that had more morals than this guy - that doesn't mean that I have the right to decide whether he lives or not; and it's silly that people are wishing he was dead, I think.

As for other countries... I really don't care that they eat dogs. Michael Vick isn't a foreigner who thinks dog is a delicacy; Michael Vick is a United States citizen and he knows what is wrong and what isn't wrong, what is against the law and what isn't against the law, and he knows that this is torture and abuse.

As for hunters shooting deer... what in the hell does that have to do with Michael Vick? Hunting deer is LEGAL - hunting, done right, is a hell of a lot less painful than making dogs fight and rip each other up, and then electrocuting and/or drowning (and God knows what else). Most hunters do actually eat the deer they hunt, and there are still people out there who still put to good use ALL of the animal.

NOBODY COMPLAINS ABOUT THEM? Get your head outta your ***, buddy and get out a little more; there are MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY people who are against hunting. But there's little that they can do because it IS legal here in the states.

As for race - I don't care if he was white, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, Native American, or black; he's still scum. No one's making a big deal outta his case 'cuz he's black, they're making a big deal out of his case because what he did is DISGUSTING, because most of his fans are idiots and think that just because Michael Vick is such a good football player he's automatically a good man and gets a get out of jail free card.

It's not "that bad" that he made dogs fight? That he tortured them? You're a dumbass, man; seriously. You're making an animal who depends on humans, who loves humans, who wants nothing more than pleasing humans, and betraying them and torturing them and making them suffer - that, in many cases, is far worse than torturing a human. Because us humans know that there are good people among the bad, because we know what is going on, because we can fight back. But those loyal, loving dogs who knew nothing but pain really didn't have a choice, did they?

I don't care who this person is, dog fighting is NOT right. I've reported neighbors of mine for fighting dogs in their backyard. It's cruel and it's sick and it's wrong. What kind of a person gets entertainment off of watching two dogs rip each other apart? You must have a sick mind to actually enjoy such a thing. And so what if the dogs aren't people, they still feel, and it's wrong. They live miserable lives until they die in a fight or die from wounds or die from an infection since these dogs will never be taken to a vet when they are seriously wounded. It's a disgusting thing, I don't care who does it, it's just wrong. And if you don't think it's wrong then you have a sick mind.

Its not our responsibility to worry about what other countries do. Other countries think we are crazy for eating cows. In our country we have a little thing called animal cruelty laws and dog fighting is illegal. People do complain about deer hunting but in some areas its a way to keep the population down. And I dont think color is the issue here. Id be just as mad if Ben Roethlisberger did this and he's the quarterback for my team. Ignorant people judge by race. Im judging by what he has been accused of. He is famous, he has a responsiblity to his team and the public to behave in a respectable way. And what does Oj simpson have to do with this? Here's a website...why dont you read up on animal cruelty laws. http://www.hsus.org/legislation_laws/citizen_lobbyist_center/animal_fighting_laws_where_does_your_state_stand.html

It's my sterotype of black people.

Well i;m sorry you just said you cant defend people well you only defend black people you hypocrite. Btw im a minority too... I'm not white. Well on Animal Planet all the animal cops guess who are all the people that watch dog fights black people... I just notice how there all growing up clipping their ears and sending them to fight. I'm sick of black people trying to think that they were once slaves they get everything and they get to live free. Well its true that most black people in poor communities watch dog fighting im not going to lie
