My husband and I are traveling to NYC in a few weeks for a long weekend and need suggestions on nightlife. We want something different that we normally wouldn't run across in Ohio. Nothing freaky weird or anything, just no sports bars or pubs, those we have plenty of. I'm just looking for something a little more exciting than what the travel guides offer up.

The East Village nightlife is for the young. The West Village is for the more sophisticated. Both neighborhoods party all night into the break of dawn on the weekends.

the "crowd" is slightly diverse based the place you bypass, yet i could actual fee GV as a real nightlife trip spot. i could additionally contain: the East Village, around St. Marks place, 9th highway in the better 40's, basically west of the Theater District, Lincoln center section and Columbus highway, the better West area, esp. Amsterdam highway in the 70's and 80's. Morningside Heights / Columbia college alongside Bway and up-and-coming alongside Amsterdam...

If you want a lil more exciting check out the Rocky Horror Picture Shon Friday and Saturday nights at midnite. Its a blast.
