You are all missing the point! Remember Janet Jackson at the Superbowl a few years back? Ever since then the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has been extra sensitive about what gets broadcast on primetime TV. Tv networks face big fines for that stuff. All (live) TV should be on a 6 second delay! People don't want to have to explain to their little kids why they can't say the same thing as people on TV. Say what you want about it but Nascar can't have people swearing on National TV! The 25 pts means absolutely nothing! Worse case scenario it costs Stewart 5 pts when the chase starts, if you can't overcome 5 pts you don't deserve to win it anyways!

I think the interviewers WANT Tony to say something bold. They know he will, and if they get in his face right after the race, they will get what they want. His adrenalin is flowing high at that point, coupled with exhaustion, what do they expect. He enjoys p!$$ing people off, especially people that don't especially like him. He's not all that bad! They should broadcast it on delay if they don't want to hear is. Maybe that way Nascar could be a little lax on their penalties.

Well my 4-year-old DOESN'T know what B.S. is, and I'd just as soon keep it that way. Now, I'm not being self-righteous here as anyone who knows me knows I turn the airblue every once in a while.
If Jr. is going to get a penalty for saying S@#T, then Tony should too. The only thing that irks me about NASCAR is how arbitrary they can be sometimes.
I just thought Tony's comments (knowing he was live), showed no class. Then again, that's the way he is sometimes.

Even though I think it sucks, you have to look at it from the "Sponsors" and "Networks" point of view.
(I know, I'll probably get a few thumbs down for this, but bear with me.)
NASCAR is trying their hardest to not be the old school NASCAR that many fans know and love. You know, the one where you took off of work for the whole week, headed down to the track with your buddies, drank and partied like you were in Vegas. You know, what happens at the track...STAYS at the track. So many people are making trips to the races family vacations and NASCAR is trying to reflect that change. In doing so they have to appease the sponsors and network television in trying to make it "family friendly."
Someone pointed out that the whole Janet Jackson/Superbowl debacle started this whole mess. That is true, every network has gone overboard in making sure content that is unsuitable for children....and adults who have nothing better to do with their life than make sure that nothing "bad" comes on their tv.....is not shown. Now, seeing as how the race was on cable, the 8 second delay (or the Jr. clause...insert laugh here...) that's on regular network tv was not used. BUT, NASCAR did let the fans know that the only time the delay would be used would be on network, not cable tv. They did this so people would know and could be prepared for any "slip-ups"
So, for those of you who think he said "Bullship", he didn't, trust me, I heard it clear as a bell, it was "Bulls@%t" Now, the reason he did that is because he's in a feud with ESPN. One of their commentators called him a bad role model after he told them at Chicago he was going to celebrate his victory by drinking a case of Shlitz. He didn't want to be interviewed anymore and he knew that was the way to get them to cut it off. Besides, he's home, he's won at Indy again, he wanted to kiss those bricks!! That and ESPN ticked him off by asking him if he was going to drink a case of beer that evening to celebrate, after how they reacted the first time to a comment like that, who could blame him.
Ok, it's long, and I still don't agree with NASCAR fining drivers for that, but I don't agree with alot of the things they fine drivers and crews for. But I can't change the rules, and it sucks.

NASCAR tries to be like the old days not look bad or talk bad in front of the fans
Today the bad boy /girl thing is so big that if they want to "look gggod" then they act babies to promote who they are.
Let one sport tie to keep stupid people tricks off the camera and way they can. Golf is the only other one with clean mouth

yeah, i do. when they're gettin' interviewed, they don't rehearse wut they're gonna say. it's not like they're thinkin' "oh, i gotta make sure i don't cuss or ill get fined". THEY JUST WON A RACE FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD. wut they r gonna say in their post race interviews is the last thing on their minds. good greif just let em' speak wut they want. and they're worried about kids hearin' em?! they should take their kids outta the room during the interviews, just in case. i mean, when ur at the race, and u listen to scanners, they say every word in the book to their crew, all to be heard on scanners. y do they fine them for interview swearing cuz their afraid that kids may hear, when u KNOW there r kids listening to scanners. im not sayin' they should fine them for the scanners too, im just sayin' that if they don't fine them for scanners, y fine them for interviews?

NASCAR, NASCAR, NASCAR, ITS CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH. LEARN IT, LIVE IT, OBAY IT. I hate that NASCAR is trying to bleep out curse words. For pete sake my 4 year old nephew knows what bullshit is. Stop trying to bleep this stuff out. Kids these days knows every swear word in the book, if not more then what we even know. NASCAR messed up by fineing Smoke for swearing, he is just going to keep doing it to piss off NASCAR and ESPN. Seeing as ESPN dont like Smoke.

What do the announcers expect? If you give Tony a mic he is gonna say something with some shock value. They should know that by now. That is why they are so quick to interview him.
