I got my hair cut today, and I asked the lady not to cut it too short, and she cut it VERY short! So now my hair looks very bad (according to my standards). Can anyone give me some advice, because I feel just horrible!

Ouch! First off, remember that it WILL grow back. New hair cuts take time to get used to. Until it grows back or you get used to it, you could try to make your hair look the best it can. Try putting it in a pony or a bun for a change. If it's really too short for that, try to curl it, crimp it, or straighten it. Expirement with different hair products and hairstyles. Try something new with your hair, also. What have you got to lose? Try parting your hair to the left or right. Use clips on one side to pull back some hair in your face. If the HAIRCUT is bad, maybe the length isn't. Look around for some haircuts in magazines that are about your length or longer. You could get your hair cut in a differents style the same length. Or you could copy the hair cut of a person with longer hair by recreating the style with your shorter hair. There are tons of possibilities. You'll feel better eventually but until then, keep experimenting!

That was just what happened to me yesterday (see my question). I immediately started to cry afterwards, it was so horrible. Don't worry, it'll grow back, but I understand that you feel so horrible right now that you can't think of how it will look like, but what it looks like now. My hair used to be past my shoulders and now it's a little bit below my ears. Short hair looks best styled and straight, so you could try that and you can spice it up with headbands and clips. It's alright, try not to think about it for a while and concentrate on other things. If you want it cry, cry by yourself, with a family member, or with a friend. I feel horrible too, so I try to not think about it. If you're really desperate to fix your hair, you could use hair extensions (they may be a bit pricey) or wear a wig for a temporary thing. The best way to allow your hair to grow out would be to just leave it alone though.

It just so happens that you're in luck! (if you're willing to spend a little money, or a lot, in this case.)

Go here and search their website. http://www.hairextensions.com/

Afterwards, you can either buy straight from there or go to a different hairstylist and buy some extensions. Any decent hairstylist will be able to provide you with gorgeous clip in extensions to wear around town.

Don't worry. It's grow out. You can even buy some wigs ( http://www.wigs.com ) to cover up for awhile. I found that when I had short hair, all I had to do was slip on a wig and boom! new hairstyle. It was great.

So remember, don't fret! There's always a solution!

P.S. Go back to the ***** that cut your hair so short and demand a refund. TODAY! (She may even give you free extensions/synthetic wig.)

It will grow significantly in a week. Not alot, but enough so that it doesn't look as bad.

Next time you are in a salon, make SURE the stylist understands what you want. Also, try bringing a picture of a style that you like (remember to choose one which would actually flatter your face shape). If they don't ask you how much you'd like to take off, ask them how much they are planning to take off before they begin. Watch what they are doing. If they are chatting to someone else, ask them how much they just cut off, or something.

Don't let anyone cut your hair if they're not listening to you.

Been there!

Theres not much you can do besides wait. It will grow out.
Try going to another stylist at a different salon and be very specific (bring pictures) of what you want. Maybe she can "fix" it for you. It always looks better after you wash and style it yourself also. Or if you can afford - go get some hair extensions put in.

Oh..I'm sorry! We have all had this happen. This may actually be a good time to experiment with a new style. Play around and look at some hair books. You may decide that you can make it a great NEW cut instead of a mistake. Good luck!

Aww sorry to hear that. I went through that. I had waist long hair and had it cut to my shoulders... by a terrible hair dresser.

My advice is trying new styles. Sometimes when they try to style your hair with mousse it's nasty. Wash your hair to get it all out, and try straightening it, parting it differently tying it into something (if it's not really short)

Worst case scenario: Hats, or a lawsuit lol.

That sucks. I hate it when hairstylists "accidentally cut really long hair because they're jealous. Actually, the person who cut your hair is REQUIRED to make it so you like it. You should definitely go back and have her redo it. Also, your hair will grow back. Don't worry about it too much:)

Next time, bring a picture from a magazine, off a web site etc of how you would like your hair to look. if you try to describe how you want it to look, it is very easy to have a disaster! You might want to go back there and let them know you are not happy with it, unfortunately, they can't put it back on, but they might try to fix it somehow, or atl east give you credit towards your next haircut (if you ever go back to that place that is).

if you dont have straight hair, then straighten it. It always looks better that way. You can use a small hair iron.
go ask for a refund at the place and tell her exactly what you dont like, then go some where better and spend the money there.

I hate bad hairdressers! they suck!! (i know how you feel)

also you can try putting accessories in it like hairbands, clips,
bobby pins. that should help.
