tebone: you've got to be kidding. People with gland/ thyroid disorders are the exception, not the rule. Most people that are fat are that way because of overeating/ not exercising

well I think if God can forgive other sins such as murder, he can definately forgive homosexuality! Some people are dumb enough to believe homosexuality is the worst sin. And I guess it's true you can't help it, it's better to come out than to live in denial, get married and then cheat on your wife/husband.

Is there a specific OT scripture verse you can quote saying "gluttony is an abhomination to the Lord", or something like that? You would need such a reference to bring it to the level of homosexual behavioural sin, or your point is NOT made.
Homosexual practices are specifically banned as sinful in the OT. The penalty carried with them was death. Gluttony, while producing a slovenly appearance, was not so vilified. It was a symptom of both wealth and a lack of self-control.
Sorry, but this comparison doesn't work. Keep trying, though.

Not all Christians are fat of course, but you are correct about gluttony being one of the seven deadly sins. The United Church of Canada is very liberal about homosexuals by the way, although there have been some problems.

Actually, homosexuality, or sexual preference in general, seems to be something you're born with, and therefore probably not changeable. Studies that have been done of the brains of both homosexuals and heterosexuals seem to suggest that sexual preference is linked to a specific part of the brain, we could for simplicity call this the "preference center". In brains of homosexual men, this center's shape resembles the one found in a female heterosexual brain much more than the center found in a male heterosexual brain. So, unless this part of brain somehow changes shape, you are probably stuck with whatever sexual preference you were born with. Unfortunately, there hasn't been done enough research in this field to validate this theory completely, but hopefully this is just a matter of time.

Actually they do tell them to pray to God to help them get over their weaknesses (which include gluttony, and not all Christians, or Catholics are fat) Being obese isn't a sin it's a health risk yes but not a sin. Gluttony though bad doesn't always mean just gluttony for food.

Apparently you do not know of what you speak. The Church has always spoken out against gluttony - which is always a sin. In fact, the Church has always spoken out against all sin. Their is nothing special about the sin of homosexuallity to set it apart from any other mortal sin. Whether it's this or something else (ie. gluttony), a person needs God's Grace, pure and simple.

As a "fat" person, I pray daily that God gives me the strength not to over eat.
God doesn't want anyone to be "fat" or homosexual. He has given us freewill to make our own choices. We have to recognize our sins and work really hard to overcome them.

lol. Our society is twisted. Somehow people have picked what they wanted to out of the Bible such as homosexuality and blew it up. Your right, no one says anything about gluttony, you don't here preachers or the president saying anything about stopping gluttony. Its sad, but people pick what they want to focus on and run with it ignoring all the other things the Bible says and its definitely not right. People can't help liking who they like and people need to realize that.

Psst Little bit of information for you. Not all fat people are fat because of over eating. The majority of obese people has to do with gland(thyroid)or other systems in the body or medications that contributes to being over weight. Such as most anti depressants cause weight gain, legal steroids such as prednisone and some asthma inhalers and medications cause weight gain.
