Why is it that the bulk of Christendom are filled with so much hate, always try to ram their religion down the throat of the Athiests and a total and utter hate for the Moslems, and they hide behind the curtain of "Jesus is love, he died for your sins"

And verses and verses are quated obscurley that does not befit the question, hey guys the Bible is a Eastern Book that is viewed through Greek and Roman glasses, which the West do not understand Eastern metaphors and simmiles, just like in the Old Testament and further in the Gospels.

The masses of Christians mis intrepret and use it against other nations of the world, kill maim, conquer divide and rule, that is the foot print of Christian teaching.

All I see in that religion is pure hate for other nations, before I get all those thumbs down just think about what has happend in the last 2000 years, how much blood has been spilt in the name of Jesus?

Here's just a small sampling of what he's talking about:

Vengence/war/death/killings:
Esther 2:23, 3:13, 7:10, 9:6-10, 9:14-16
Job 1:15-17
Psalms 18:40, 18:47, 21:9, 58:10, 59:11-13, 68:21, 11:4, 118:11-12, 137:9, 140:9-11, 149:6-9
Jeremiah 5:9, 6:4-5, 7:31, 9:16 & 25, 12:12-17, 13:14, 15:6, 16:4-5, 17:27, 21:7, 46:10, 50:28, 52:27

I weep for the fools that believe these are the acts of a loving, merciful god.

I'm going to try and answer this question paragraph by paragraph:

1) "Why is it that the bulk of Christendom are filled with so much hate, always try to ram their religion down the throat of the Athiests and a total and utter hate for the Moslems, and they hide behind the curtain of "Jesus is love, he died for your sins" Look at your question and most other questions on R&S and I think you will see who does most of the hating.
I don't remember hating muslims, I do know they hate and blow things up because of it.

2) "verses and verses are quated obscurley that does not befit the question, hey guys the Bible is a Eastern Book that is viewed through Greek and Roman glasses, which the West do not understand Eastern metaphors and simmiles, just like in the Old Testament and further in the Gospels." We are supposed to interpret scripture inline with the scripture. The Bible mentions False Teachers so it is no surprise that they would use the book for their agenda. Just because they do this does not mean that the book is flawed only the HUMAN using it.

3) "The masses of Christians mis intrepret and use it against other nations of the world, kill maim, conquer divide and rule, that is the foot print of Christian teaching." The Christians you refer to here were largely Roman Catholics and the old religion at that time was like that. I don't recall any conquering, maiming, and ruling going on now. The only theocracy we have that I know of is the Vatican.

4) "All I see in that religion is pure hate for other nations, before I get all those thumbs down just think about what has happend in the last 2000 years, how much blood has been spilt in the name of Jesus?" Again, I don't recall hating anyone for their beliefs and just want the same respect shown to me. As a side note- not everyone who calls themselves Christian are such. Ex. saying that they believe in God but don't believe in Jesus His Son. Saying that they believe in Jesus but he was just a good teacher or the brother of satan.

I hope this has cleared things up for you. Oh and by the way, I believe it is the Atheists you speak of who hate the most. I do find it sad that "Christians" respond in like words.

God Bless.

Mofty you are right, Christianity has often been used as a weapon by people with ulterior motives e.g. Western colonialists. But unfortunately humans have a long history of using state religions to impose social order (think of Ancient Sumer, Egypt, Rome) Religion is an attribute of human culture, like music, or art, bequeathed to human society by history. We can draw on it, as with other cultural legacies, for good or evil. I do not hate Moslems and as a Christian I humbly ask pardon for the times that Christianity has wronged not only Islam but any other religion. I think you will find that Christians are becoming more aware that the basic message of Jesus is that of "the Kingdom of God " which is the central theme of Jesus' teaching in the Gospels: see Wikipedia - Kingdom of God

Maybe, someday, you will see a true Christian. And understand what the faith is truly about.

Let this man's testimony be a reminder to us Christians in faith. The only way to reach out to these people is to live our lives as proof of who God is. They do not want to hear verses, they do not want to hear our side of the argument. Verses are ment for us, to help us grow in Christ. If the world ask questions, then we can answer. Do all things through the Holy Spirit, or else we've failed from the start.

Christians see it as the same thing from athiests and other people who spout angry messages like your own.

Those who are truely saved and live as the bible teaches us aren't the same as the religious fanatics that you're talking about.

The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 2:24-26 that as servants of the Lord, we are to be kind to and not quarrel with anyone. We should gently teach those who oppose the truth, and be patient with difficult people. Matthew 5:16 tells us “...let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly father.”

Just as you can't say all black people are gangsters, all blondes are dumb, everyone from the Middle East are terrorists, you can't say that all Christians are hatefilled fanatics trying to cram something down someone's throat.

For those of you who are Christians and got really peeved at this question, I challenge you to review the following:

James 1:20: for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

1 Corinthians 10:31: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (is getting mad and name calling really doing anything for the glory of God?)

Ephesians 4:26-27: In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

Proverbs 29:11: A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

Just wanted to keep it all in perspective.... please don't try to categorize me to fit your own intent :) I don't like small spaces and that box you're trying to stuff me in is pretty tiny....

I am an atheist and I am going to give you an answer that nobody is going to like. Religion is not so much to blame as just the people themselves. I will concede that atheists can't justify atrocities in the name of God, it is just as likely that all those horrible atheistic regimes were devoid of the kinds of morals that religion is supposed to endow.

On the other hand, you see people committing atrocities in the name of their religions. Genocide for God. And they believe they are heroes for it. I think it is just human nature and most of humanity has not evolved to the point where it can abandon all that barbaric baggage that we carry with us. But we have something that can free us from the laborious rise from our primitive roots. Intelligence. We can THINK our way out of the jungle. And we can do it very fast, compared to evolution. So what is the key to our survival and peace on earth? Education. We must learn all we can about the world--the real world and take to heart the lessons we inherit from our past.
I believe, social sophistication, enlightenment, law, and morality all come from us when we are at our educated best.

I think it is narrow minded of you to classify the "bulk of Christendom", i.e., the bulk of Christians in this way.

If a hundred people lived a humble, loving, Christian life and never hurt anyone but only did good to others and one of them rose up one day and started slaughtering people.....who would get the most press?

Christians filled with hate eh? lets see, yeah those 19 Christians that flew the hijacked planes into the pentagon and world trade center, yep hate by Christians. the Cole bombing, yeah Christians did it. the 93 bombing of the world trade center, yep Christians again. and of course all those hateful Christians calling for the destruction of Israel. oh yes and don't forget the Christians claiming to be the religion of peace, and then blowing themselves up in crowded market places taking innocent people with them. and of course we cant forget all those Christian clerics calling for a jihad against the west. yep all them mean nasty Christians are real trouble makers. well they would be except that all them Christians are really fundamentalist Muslims in disguise.

i grant that Christians have not always been of upright and moral character, and that the inquisition period was indeed a low point in the history of the church, but what Christians have done pales in comparison to what Muslims have done in the name of god. Christians dont strap on a bomb, walk into a crowded market place, and blow themselves up and take as many innocent lives with them, all in the name of getting into paradise and collecting their 72 virgins.

You haven't been talking to the same people or reading the same book I have.

Studying the Bible is the best thing I have EVER done in my life! I believe!! I believe in God's love and I believe that love led to Him sending his only Son to die for you and for me on the cross so that our sins can be forgiven!!
