Ok, so I've been thinking about getting a belly button ring for a while now. My boyfriend suggested it a while ago, saying I would look really sexy with one and it's been on my mind since.

I was wondering:

What is the average cost of getting one?

What kind of care is put into it after you get one?

What kind of ring should I get?

How much does it hurt? (scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst)

Will the hole close up when I want to take it out later in life?

What is the average cost of getting one?
Mine was about $70 including the ring and the spray I got for it, but it depends on where you go. Research and ask questions when you decide to go.

What kind of care is put into it after you get one?
You should move it and twist it a little bit when it stops hurting. Some places tell you just to wash it with soap and water a few times a day (with a q-tip or something.) One place I went to gave me a booklet that said the best way to help it heal is to mix a special kind of salt and water together and put that on. I just got a spray called H2Ocean that works VERY well. You should try to avoid touching it with your hands. It's really not that bad and doesn't take up a lot of time. You should clean it about three times a day though.
Also, you can't change it for at least four months. At least, where I went that's how it was.

What kind of ring should I get?
Really whatever is more comfortable for you. Most people I know have a bar. If you get an actual ring it will probably show through your clothes with a bump, but the bar doesn't show very much through a shirt unless you wear a tight one.

How much does it hurt? (scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst)
It really ranges. Mine would probably about a two, and it didn't bleed at all until the first time I cleaned it when only a TINY bit of dry blood was cleaned out. My friend's hurt more than mine and bled a little more though. But honestly, it isn't that bad. It may hurt to wear tight shirts or completely sit down for a few days, but I never had those problems.

Will the hole close up when I want to take it out later in life?
If you want it to close up and leave it out, it will close. If you take it out within the first year it will probably mostly close within a day or so (I have a bad experience with this.)

I decided to get a belly button ring when I first went off to college about 3 years ago and it cost me about $60. They will give you a cleaning solution/soap type bottle and you are supposed to clean it about 3 times a day (what they told me). I had a ring with a rhinestone on the top and a small flower on the bottom and I liked it because it wasn't too big and you couldn't see it under my clothes. Surprisingly it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would (They come at you with a 6 inch rod and it scared the heck outta me). From 1-10 I would say about a 4, and it didn't bleed too badly. The hole does close up, but you can still tell where the piercing was. Now, in my case, I had sensitivity to piercings and had infections when I got my ears pierced and unfortunately also when I had my belly button done. I thought it would clear up but it ended up being very painful and I took it out. I still think they look cute on other people, but just don't do the long ones that look like they should have been necklaces. Hope I helped a little bit!

What is the average cost of getting one?
-I went to an actual doctor, so it was a little more expensive than normal, but the cost for me was around $125 I think. It depends on where you go mostly.

What kind of care is put into it after you get one?
-It should be treated like any other piercing, clean it at least 2-3 times a day, follow the piercer's instructions. And be careful of what shirts you wear.

What kind of ring should I get?
-I started out with a barbell, because my piercer let me choose what type I wanted. A few of my friends chose to start out with a ring, because they heard it was less likely to snag on clothes. Mine has never snagged though, so it's your preference.

How much does it hurt? (scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst)
-It really doesn't feel much like anything, since it's only going through a small piece of skin. I would give it a 2 or 3.

Will the hole close up when I want to take it out later in life?
-It depends on how far along in life you mean. If you take it out earlier, it will close up. But after a few years it won't close as quickly. I'm sure if you leave it out long enough, it will close, but that also means there will be a small scar.

I can't really say the average cost. When i got mine it was $50. Not much care is really put into it besides cleaning it and twisting/moving it a little. You should get one that you want. Mine hurt @ roughly a 4-5. It wasn't really that bad. Depends on how long you leave it in before you take it out. And how long you leave it out before you put it back in. Usually 6-8 months it how long you have to keep it in before you should even take it out to change it.

i have both good and bad things to say about it one it costs about 30 dollars care is pretty much like taking care of your ear holes they will put hoop on to start usually mine felt like a little pinch not bad at all know for the last part my hole absessed cause my body wouldnt heal and i had to have it surgically remove from my stomach and then they had to cut the absess and know i have 2 holes and a small scare left on my stomach holes will stay forever but they will close and leave like a purple scare
