There is a language proficiency pay, but it is based on how you score on the proficiency test. The list of languages on that list have decreased, so you may want to talk to a recruiter. They should be able to tell you which languages you can receive the incentive pay for, and possibly what the pay range is for each.

Language pay is ususually for people with language abilities in high demand areas...right now that would be Arabic, Farsi, Chinese and a few others. Spainish does not get any bonuses as many military members are quite fluent. Don't know about the Italian but everyone must be fluent in English! You could qualify for the linguistics school and that could lead to language bonuses depending on what they place you in. As for being an officer, the only way to do that is to have a four year degree from an accreditted college.

Yes you can - as a linguist you get paid on how well you score on the DLPT. You can also got th\o the DLI and pick up another language as well. The air force is cutting down on officers - but you want to be enlisted first. For the Army you can get language pay if you are not a linguist, you have to take the DLPT's for those languages though - not sure on the others - I do know that the Army is not commitioning intell people for the next few years as well. But the enlisted guys are the ones that use their languages more anyway. At least for the Army, the max pay per language is $500 per month - if you score max on the DLPT. The Army and Air Force go back and forth on the paying for Spanish - it just depends on the the in demand languages. You do have to take the DLPT every year for each language to get paid.

No. I served with a Chief Petty Officer who was fluent in five languages, including the written forms of those languages. He received the same pay as every other Chief Petty Officer.

There's Combat Pay, Temporary Duty pay, housing allowance, and Jump Pay, but I've never heard of multilingual pay.
