My boyfriends parents just got this new puppy. It is about 12 weeks old now. This is the most spoiled dog ever. He sleeps on the pillow in their bed at the top with them, they give him scraps of food in his bowl with his food in addition from the scraps them give him in a plate! They leave for work at 9am and don't get back untill 6 so they leave him in the kitchen to poddy train him with the puppy pads. I think they should put him in the kennel they bought and don't use because he poops and pees all over the kitchen. I don't want to go up and be like your raising your dog the wrong way, but they won't punish him. How do I kinda tell them to use other methods for their dog without taking over??? hhelp!

I'm saying punish him but disipline him for peeing or pooping on the floor. I'd never hurt an animal. I have a dog of my own and we kennel trained him and has never peed or pooped on the floor for 5 years. but i think they go over board with things like letting their dog eat of a plate. shouldn't there be a line where the dog shouldn't eat like a human? or sleep on a pillow at the top of their bed. I mean I love dogs, but he is a dog not a human.

unless they have complained about the dogs behavior there is not much u can do if they are fine with the way the dog is behaving then your advice wont make much a difference to them unless they ask you for advice dont offer it unless you fear harm is being caused to them or the dog otherwise u have to let them learn for themselves they will eventually get tired of it and look for discipline measures thats when u should step in with your advice raising a puppy is like raising a child u must learn from ur mistakes

I would be very careful with this one. People (especially these it seems) take their pets very seriously almost like actual children. Make a story (even a fake one) about a friend who too had a puppy and that they found crate training was the fastest and less messy method for their pup. They highly recommend it. If you sell someone on a pretty sure way to potty train quicker, then they will more than likely jump at the opportunity! However, if they do go with your suggestion, someone will definately have to come home sooner than 6 to let the lil guy out. He's a puppy so he'll have to go more often. If they CAN'T get home any earlier, than the kitchen method is better.

First off you never punish a dog. Reward good behavior and correct bad behavior. Go to your local pet store and find a good book on how to raise a puppy, buy it for the parents.

Seeing as how it's their puppy, you should simply leave them alone.
A lot of people like to spoil their pets, and that's their decision. Personally, I love my own pets way too much to ever put them in a kennel! I actually consider that quite cruel.
So basically.
Mind your own business. :D
