Noones winning
That's the glory of a war of attrition; you don't win, you survive.
The adament Sunni group Al Qaeda (who would never align itself with Iran) has their financial networks and leadership in shambles is not winning, nor is the Iranian backed Mahdi Army
The problem in Iraq is genuinally a unique problem, in "normal" wars you have two opposing sides working for their own goals. In Iraq you have the US on one side but on the other side, you have multiple sides; the Mahdi Army, Al Qaeda, 1920 Revolution Brigade, former Ba'ath party, New Ba'ath party, KDP, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan etc. all working for their own goals, making it impossible for the forseeable future for any one group to "win"
The closest we have to winners so far are the anarchists
Though, Kurdistan in the North is pretty peaceful, they COULD be the sidebar winners

The easy answer is we are. We even have some militias that were fighting us now joining us because they're sick and tired of foreign insurgents targeting their women and children. We have better than 80% of the country under control. We're building schools, training police and military, and rebuilding an infrastructure that will support a country. We are trying to teach the idea of democracy to a people who have NEVER experienced it in their recorded history. We're killing insurgents, finding bombs, and getting better at it. We are also fighting this war in other parts of the world and doing it with one of the smallest militaries we've had in 100 years. Yet these battlegrounds also seem to be un-newsworthy. And the mainstream media seems to think that anything positive about Iraq shouldn't be shown. Evidently rioting crowds are the only things that even get newscrews' attention these days, that's much easier than actually trying to do research and find a story.

It is clear and obvious that two sides are winning in Iraq and you might even wonder if there is a link between them.
On one side you have the Islamic Extremist lead by Al Queda who are trying to desperately to align themselves with the group funded by Iran. They are responsible for the most violence and that is all we hear or read about here in America.
On the other side you have the fanatical American left. They control the media and make sure we hear nothing about the success in Iraq, the fact 70% of the country lives in relative peace, and that we've built more schools, Mosques and medical clinics then police stations. They are tied to defeat and want to make sure we lose at all costs because their political victory in America is bet heavily on it.

The Media because they keep getting cheap items to put on the air instead of having to pay for stories worth watching.
