A lot of dogs do that when they lose their puppy fur.

Your dog is a sable (also called agouti). Sables are often born dark and they will always become lighter as they lose their puppy coat and with it, the black tipping. It comes back when their adult coats start coming in. Once the adult coat is fully in, she'll continue to get darker for quite a while. Many sables don't reach their final color until 3-5 years of age. There's nothing wrong with her, at least nothing that is affecting her coat color. This is just the normal color change for sable patterned dogs.

My best answer is because "sometimes they just do." Dalmations aren't born with spots. My dog (almost 2 now) is still getting a bit darker on her back.

She's an adorable little one though!!

my dogs hair changed from mostly black to now a little black and the rest a silver/gray/white mix, so it is not unusual for dogs hair color to change, just like humans.

She has a typical Malamute coat... and like most Malamutes is changing color as she ages. I wonder how much she'll look like a Malamute when she grows up.

I don't know much about dogs but I'm going to assume she's losing her puppy hair and growing in her adult fur.

It is common for young animals' coats to start out a different color than they will end up.

In fact, it's common among many of us humans as well!

That is so common.
Most of the time I can even look a puppy and tell you what color it will be when it grows up.

Would you believe this
