WELL, THE 2005 MUSTANG GT HAS BEEN TITLED AS THE MOST RELIABLE CAR IN ITS CLASS.
AND FORD HAS BEEN SELLING THE MOST RELIABLE F-SERES TRUCK WITH "THE BEST SELLING TRUCK OF THE YEAR" AND "THE BEST TRUCK IN ITS CLASS" TITLES FOR 31 STRAIGHT YEARS.
FORD's RELIABILITY AND QUALITY IS HARD TO BEAT THESE DAYS
BUT DEEP INSIDE MY HEART I CAN NOT FIND A GOOD LINK BETWEEN A FORD AND A HYBRID,
THINK ABOUT IT, AMERICAN CARS SHOULD NOT BE HYBRIDS....
IT'S DISGUSTING TO DRIVE AN AMERICAN HYBRID. IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO AMERICAN HISTORY.
SO IF YOU REALLY WANT A HYBRID.... GO FOR SOME CRAZYASS TOYOTA.

Actually the Ford Hybrid has gotten pretty good reliability.
The computer technology that does the switching between gas and electric motors is licensed from Toyota. It's the same technology as that in the Prius.
Friend has one and he really enjoys driving it. He tries to get as much mileage per gallon as possible and averages 28-30mpg for the hybrid suv.
The 2008 Hybrid Escapes have the newer body and have a $3000 government tax credit. You may want to consider them.

Why not go with the 2008 Hybrids-they should be out and shouldn,t be that much difference. Anyways the Hybrid Is a new technology suv by Ford. It rides great and gets great gas mileage. All u do is drive the gas/electric motor changes by itself - below 25mph electric - above 25mph is gas. You won,t go wrong - the battery life is 100,000 warranty, tight turning radius. This suv has a panaramic view, raised seating means better view, side air bags, abs brakes, front air bags. Bold new look, clean lines.
Go test drive the 2008 and see for yourself.

Basically Ford is trying to get it's bad rap away.. this version of the Escape (2005 and newer) is a pretty decent vehicle with no real problems with it like it's 2001-2004 older models.
As someone said, it's basically technology that Ford had designed but was so close to Toyota's that we license it from Toyota so they get to work out the bugs:-)
But one word of warning though... I don't know about Toyota dealers, but Ford dealers are not forced to have Hybreds and in some areas (like my rural area) we don't have any Hybred dealers within 50 miles of us (and there are 6 Ford dealers closer to my town than the nearest Hybred dealer)... Most are in big cities.

The Ford Escape hybrid has received very high quality ratings according to consumer reports. The regular Escape has also has been known for good quality. I would really suggest a Ford Escape Hybrid because it gets up to 36 mpg, you are saving the Earth, and you are saving your wallet.
Here are consumer reports from people who own and Escape Hybrid: http://autos.yahoo.com/ford_escape_hybrid-reviews_user/
Ford is rapidly improving their quality and designs and are making more fuel efficient vehicles.
