Samson is my 10 year old chocolate lab, who is in great shape. He was at the beack on Sunday playing for three hours (which is not unusual) He was with our neighbors and their three kids and their chocolate lab who is 1. There was nothing unusual and he walked home normally. The next morning he was lame, putting no weight on his back right leg, but did not appear in any pain - there was no crying, he was not senstitive to touch, so we thought we would give him the day. The next day he was OK, putting weight on it and moving more normally. Today, he woke up and was lame again. He then seemed to be moving around better...but is now lame again. I have made an appointment for tomorrow, but any advice or thoughts in advance would be helpful. What can I expect? I am beside myself - he is my best friend and I cant stand to see him this way :-( PLEASE HELP!

well with his age he may have a little arthritis, it may not bug him all the time. But all the recent play may have been a bit much.. Just like in humans we show no signs of something, then one day we wake up and oh my back hurts, or your neck, and so on. That maybe the problem, he could have pulled a muscle or such.. I hope all is ok, and your vet can give you better answers...

This dog is just joking around. Trying to get some extra treats and laughing at you. You were correct in coming to this forum to get really great information. Why waste money and time at your vets? I'll bet next he'll pull the old "I can't walk at all stunt". Just laugh at him and tell him "no treats". And whatever you do don't call the vets.

Take the dog to the vet. There is no way someone on Y!Answers can diagnose your dog.

Good luck.

just so you know dogs can hide there pain REALLY well. Untill the vet don't let him jump up to or down from any high places.

As soon as you can take him to a vet he might have made a bad force and hurt his feet so take him to the vet.Hope he is going to be ok

it could be a problem with his joints. my friend just went through that. he wound up having some major problems, i dont want to worry you. but whatever tests the vet wants to do...let him do them.
