Should I repeat "Atheists are scumbags" 100 times or 1,000 to myself until it becomes embedded into my psyche?

Should I make nasty blanket statements about all atheists and then claim to be quite a reasonable, enlightened person?

Should I namecall and belittle and deride, all the while accusing them of and criticizing them for the same exact behavior?

Should I play victim and rail about the big bad nonbelievers while attempting to grind nonbelievers into the ground?

Grendel! So nice of you to drop by and become our featured example. Yes, basically, the question should be "How can I become more like Grendel"?

Why would you wish to be like somebody who you dislike? Why not follow the example of non-Christians who accept Christians, regardless of the ignorant few, and can tolerate the ignorant few anyway.

Rather than asking why, I prefer to show you the truth. The truth that these people are only human. Their beliefs are no less real to them than yours are to you. Perhaps rather than giving them a hard time, you should challenge their actions.

I do it a lot. I do it to all those who show disrespect based on religion. I'm doing it now. I'm not telling you off, just attempting to give you some insight into what may come of this.

When you retaliate to one of theirs, is that not doing the same as they are? When they see you do the same, they will then repeat. After that, the vengeance continues to be reciprocated. Back and forth, back and forth, until someone gets hurt.

Bear in mind that that someone could be you, your child, your grandchild, or any one of your friends or family. It equally could be someone on the opposite side. But regardless of who it is, would you like to be the one who has to explain that you could have just been more tolerant?

Well, you could just decide to be an atheist who hurls invective and spews vitriol at others.

You could repeat "(place the name of the group you love to hate here) are scumbags 100 times or 1,000 to myself until it becomes embedded into your psyche...

You could make nasty blanket statements about all (place the name of the group you love to hate here) and then claim to be quite a reasonable, enlightened person...

You could namecall and belittle and deride, all the while accusing them of and criticizing them for the same exact behavior...

You could play victim and rail about the big bad (place the name of the group you love to hate here) while attempting to grind (place the name of the group you love to hate here) into the ground...

OH...hold on, you seem to have a good start on it already.
Well, don't let me stand in your way!!

LOL. Wow. I got a thumbs down for LOL? Does my reputation precede me or is it just my fearsome Avatar?

Look, mojo, when I was 19 years old, I had a Foreman who was a Baptist Deacon. We would all come in to work 20 minutes or so early so we could drink coffee and wake up before we actually had to do anything.
My Foreman (the Deacon) would come in Monday morning early, prop his feet up on his desk, sit back and stare at the picture on his desk of his wife and kids, and brag about the who%re he had been with on Saturday night; then tell us he helped serve communion on Sunday morning.
I have been amazed at the brief time I have been here and seen some "Atheists" who seem to know the Bible better than some "Christians" who have been what they are for 20 years or so. Apparently, it is a requirement of life that we get older, maturity is an option. And hypocrasy is rampant.
I have a Bible Software Program on my laptop, and I know how to effectively shred someone with Bible quotations. I have 6 versions, 2 commentaries, Hebrew and Greek dictionaries, and word and phrase search capabilities. I can search 6 Bibles faster than a teenager can google. But God told us that we would know who is Christian BY OUR LOVE ONE FOR ANOTHER. Regretably, there are quite a few vitriolic people here on both sides, and as I stated above, no one is REQUIRED to grow up.
How or where does it end? Sorry, Charlie, but the blame lies squarely on us Christians. We are the ones who are supposed to be kind, gentle, loving, mature, and if we do not display these qualities, how can we convince anyone to WANT to be like us?
I laugh at your question because it should NOT be true, but you DO have valid points. I guess the best I can say for myself is I'll try to grow up a little, would you care to join me in a little maturity?

"If I do not want what you want, please try not to tell me that my want is wrong.

Or if I believe other than you, at least pause before you correct my view.

Or if my emotion is less than yours, or more, given the same circumstances, try not to ask me to feel more strongly or weakly.

Or yet if I act, or fail to act, in the manner of your design for action, let me be.

I do not, for the moment at least, ask you to understand me. That will come only when you are willing to give up changing me into a copy of you.

I may be your spouse, your parent, your offspring, your friend, or your colleague. If you will allow me any of my own wants, or emotions, or beliefs, or actions, then you open yourself, so that some day these ways of mine might not seem so wrong, and might finally appear to you as right -- for me. To put up with me is the first step to understanding me. Not that you embrace my ways as right for you, but that you are no longer irritated or disappointed with me for my seeming waywardness. And in understanding me you might come to prize my differences from you, and, far from seeking to change me, preserve and even nurture those differences." Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. —Henry David Thoreau

Sadly, it appears that you are already doing what you have set out to do.

Might it not be better to "take the high road", allowing others to be as they are, while being yourself and in the same context, allowing all to live in and to be peace?

Work for and hope for the enlightnment of the unenlightened (which may or may not include one's self), serve others even at the expense of one's self, breathe, live and be peace for all.

May it all be well with you.
