i.e-the last chapter in Mark where it mentions "taking up serpents." Some sects in Christianity handle snakes during services, and unfortunately have died from it.

I do not believe there is 37,000 denominations and Christendom is united on the essential elements of the Gospel
****
An example of a bad teaching:
A guy named Charles Caps says that God spoke everything into existence (true - but there is a limit to what God spoke into existence) . . . and since Christians accept Jesus (God) as their Lord (true) and Jesus, via the Holy Spirit, comes and lives inside the believer (true) . . . then the believer can speak things into existence (false teaching)
****
It is not, at all clear, that the Bible is intended to be interpreted in light of Tradition . . . the Bible should be interpreted in light of scripture alone . . .
****
a person is invited to read the Bible for themselves because:
Openness is a good - secret is bad
Bibles are easy to read
You do not have to be special, or have permission
God can protect the reading and the interpretation (misinterpretation is a selfish motivation and God allows people to be selfish . . . it is a sin and He allows sin)

First of all the bible as well as the holy quran teaches the there should be no schisms in their religion. This doctrine of sepratism is what is used to keep the people divided and conquered. Wars are fought to control land and have power over the people of those lands. Religion is a tool that is used to control the masses. Islam on one hand claim to be the absolute religion from God, while christianity claims that absoluteness for their side. Then you have judaism, catholicism, and a host of others who claim to be the divine leader of the world. Scriptures are misinterpreted because of ignorance, politics, and secrecy as to what scriptures or ayah's, or verses of other religious bibles are really saying. Jesus simply said to the samaritan woman at jacobs well that the time will come and now is when the father will seek those who worship in spirit and in truth. The whole sum of the matter is to fear (RESPECT) God and keep the commandments, and to confess Jesus as the Messiah.

One example is pretty much the entire chapter of John 6. Jesus says over and over again that he is the bread of life, he is the bread that fell in the desert, he is real food, real drink, and that you must eat and drink his flesh to have eternal life. Over and over he says this, the entire book.
The disciples are so shocked by this that, other than the twelve apostles, he loses almost all of them. He meant what he said, and he said what he meant.
And yet evangelicals, who are so literal about everything else, insist that he was being symbolic. NO HE WASN'T! He would not have said what he said so many times, and nor would a figure of speech have scared off his followers.
He said a "very hard saying," he meant it, and he meant us to take it seriously. Evangelicals refuse to listen to Jesus on this.

I have a lot of interesting theories on exactly what you are asking about. But, it would take some time discuss this very subject. I question the "original intent" of Jesus, and whether he intended for religion to be organized at all. I questions whether the modern church is anywhere near what it was intended to be(by Jesus). Of course, I am agnostic, so I have a lot of other questions as well, but that is a whole other issue altogether. Good question though.

Christians have faith in sola scriptura , the Bible is the applicable authority on non secular concerns. we don't place self assurance in improper human reasoning to confirm what's actuality and what isn't. you will possibly desire to accomplish a little greater analyzing approximately Martin Luther, and not from catholic aspects. He did not do away with any books from the unique canon or substitute any. He did have reservations approximately James, in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced into because of the fact of his theory that it emphasised works over faith for salvation. you're conscious that there have been Bibles written formerly he translated his into German, such because of the fact the Geneva Bible? The Bible we use is finished and over ninety 9% organic in assessment to the manuscripts we've. might desire to you quote e book, financial disaster and verse the place the Bible says the "church" is the pillar of actuality? you do not might desire to renowned church history to understand Scripture, you in basic terms % the indwelling of the Spirit who guides us to all actuality.

Talk about twisting things.
How about those who claim there are 37,000 different denominations when in reality there are less than 500?
Pastor Art
PS: Let's see your list of all 37,000. I could care less about someone making the claim that there are that many. Let me see your list. Thank you.

Incessantly. They constantly take specific passages out of context and then toss them into another - and usually wildly inappropriate - context. That's where they get crazy ideas like the Mother of Christ is the Whore of Babylon. Or that jews are superhuman, which is getting to be a real obsession with them lately.
