I feed my dogs mostly raw with some table scraps and occassionally some kibble.
For thousands of years dogs lived off the scraps we gave them (or they stole). Its only been in the last 100 years that kibble has been around and only in the last 30 that its become THE way to feed dogs.
The sad thing is that the AOD (age of death) is going down... *I* personally believe that this is due to the very limited and not very high quality diet our dogs are being fed.
My dogs can eat nearly anything because their intestines are used to it. There are tons of dogs who must be restricted in what they eat because they HAVE been restricted and their intestines are no longer capable of dealing with any variety.

No, I feed a balance commercial kibble. Feeding table scraps is dicey because you never know how balanced a diet your dog is getting. You don't know the protein or the fat percentages. You risk pancreatitis and many other problems with any unknown diet. You think you are doing your dog a favor by giving it an unknown diet? And saying that all your dogs lived a long and healthy life is subjective. Maybe someone else would say your dogs lived a less than normal lifespan and were always border line unhealthy. I won't even go into the behavior problems that are created by feeding table scraps.

Yes, u can feed medium or large dogs table scraps as long as the food isnt something that will make them have very very loose stool, or if its something that they are allergic too. Always make sure, to not over feed them and take them on walks at least 2 times a weak. But, i wouldn't reccomend feeding table scraps to small dogs. Sure, you can feed the A LITTLE BIT of tablescraps, but no alot because: Small dogs are very very immune to getting over weight. If you do feed a small dogs lots of table scraps, they will get over weight unless you take them on walks every day. Also, if a dog is over weight, dont feed them anymore table scraps, you can feed them something without calories though such as: Celery, carrots, and lettuce.

I feed my dogs of a night, after we have our meal and they always get the leftovers as well as dog food.
They even eat leftover salad!
Both are 8 yrs old and are in great shape and have never had any health issues.
They get ample exercise so the extra calories dont seem to make a difference.....and, they love it!!
There are a few things you need to be cautious of, such as onion and chocolate as these can make them sick...although I have never had any probs....they love my bolognese!
I dont let them near the table when we are eating so they do not get anything during our meal. We are at the top of the 'pack' and they must wait their turn.

I don't. I end up with dogs with gas, dogs with the runs and it can lead to fat dogs too. It can cause serious health problems like pancreatitis if the food is fatty. And it's nutrionally unbalanced if they are eating human food in place of dog food.
Do what you want, but it's not the best thing for your dogs. You've been lucky up till now.

It depends on the dog, because I used to have dogs and whenI was little (3 years old) i gave them food and nearly killed them, but I can give my dog now anything and she is fine. But I dont because I dont want her to beg.
