All the answers above are correct to some degree. Los Angeles is a big city and it depends on where you start out. Every one knows that if you catch it on a bad day, it can take three hours just to cross LA. If you are in the south of LA, of course you are going to get to SD quicker than if you have to go through the LA traffic. Similarly if you are in the Valley, Say North Ridge or any thing the other side of the M Pass you can get to SB much faster that if you were at Tommy's getting a burger.

Soo... I just threw this in to let you know that this is not a hard and fast figure that you are talking about. Traffic in SD can be horrible as well so be aware that the times are just estimates.
From Graumans Chinese theater to Santa Barbara is 89 miles with an estimated time of 1 hour and 33 minutes
Grom Graumans Chinese theater to San Diego is 127 miles with an estimitate time of 2 hours and 11 minutes. good luck

LA is about a 2 hour drive from both Santa Barbara and San Diego. SD is 2 hours south of LA nad SB is 2 hours (to 2.5 hrs, depending on traffic) north of LA.

I am amused at our Angelino sense of distance... notice it is measured in TIME not miles... how funny is that. And time is relative to traffic. Which we seem to have alot of these days.

SO... to answer your question accurately:
