Wow!! Good Question!!
I've been a Christian for a long time and sometimes I still can't find all the meanings and such behind Jesus' parables. I've learn to allow the Holy Spirit to help me find these answers. And guess what? He has given me different meanings to these stories as I read them different times. Yet I would suggest for you to ask a Christian you know who has the Spiritual gift of knowledge in God's Word. God has given us different Spiritual Gifts to help each other. So don't be afraid to ask. :)

Scripture interprets the differences between the parables. There is the parable of the prodigal son, seed sowers, virgins, mustard seed, tares and wheat.

As far as a Church is concerned, you might check out your local Calvary Chapel. They are a non-denominational bunch who only studies the Bible. I belong to one. You'll find some of the best fellowship and interpretation of Scripture.

Generally if a story is a parable it states that plainly in the context. For an introduction into the parables of Jesus, and why He spoke in parables, read Matthew's Gospel, chapter 13.

It's god's perfect words so how can you not tell? Oh wait, does that make it not perfect or not god's words?

The bible is a work of fiction and was a poor attempt at controlling large chunks of the populace that worked.
