1500-1600's The Catholic Church was a mess.
Bishop's were influenced by monarch's and priests were left to lead thier sheep with little central control from the Pope. This miffed Martin Luther and he called for "Reformation" with unity of scripture, service, and devotion. Being a hot head, Mr. Luther could not wait for reformation of the whole church and he left the church with his congregation.
Some Christain Churches still teach what was taught to them from the 1400-1600'swithout revisting the reformation that has taken place. Yes, the people of the time were praying and worshiping without the strongest leadership. Ironically, with some 37,000 Christian denominations, non-RC's look like the RC of the 1400-1600's while the RC church looks like what was desired during the 1400-1600's.
This is because during the 1600's the RC Chruch did have many Saints who heard Mr. Luther and stayed with the Church. As a result, the Church did reform. We now have mass in our native language, unified scripture & gossple readings, and a Pope who centralizes us even against social pressures like divorce, and other moral issues.

It could be that they don't understand the teachings of their own church.
I study all religions and teachings.I also have
friends that are Catholic. Most of them don't
know what thus saith the Lord. They don't
even know where they are going when they
die.Yes,they do worship Mary and believe
that water has power to save.

I think people think that because they give Mary attributes that belong to God such as hearing and answering prayers, a virgin birth and being assumed into heaven.

It could be the extreme reverence shown to the Blessed Virgin, as well as misunderstanding our view of her role in our redemption. Sone people seem to think we place as Christ equal (and to be honest, I have met many Catholics who DO place her as co-redemptrix). It's understandable, in my opinion.

I grew up in a family where 95% of the members are devoted Catholics, I've seen it, I've heard it, I've been at the church, it's true. Catholics worship Mary more than Jesus himself.

Ignorance! Why wouldn't you look to a person who gave a young woman who gave her life and body to the Lord?
