The sixaxis doesn't vibrate at all (not for PS2 games either) due to a lawsuit bought by the company who designed it (Immersion, i believe) claiming Sony didn't have the rights to use it.
To compensate Sony put in a type of motion sensing device (though no game yet has really used it well)
Recently though they settled the case and are thought to be designing a new controller which incorporates both

the sixaxis is a motion sensitive controller with 6 lines of axis the wii only has 3 and no it doesn't vibrate but it's rumored there will be one

the sixaxis controller does not vibrate, is to play motion activated games, like in motorstorm, you can steer your vehicle buy turning the controller, or in rainbow six vegas, it can be used to look around with a snake cam.
the sixaxis controller only vibrates if you download ps2 system data and play ps2 games.

Sadly, no it does not vibrare. The SIXAXIS controller sort of has motion sensitivity, but not really. It uses 4 LEDs to track tilting. Hope this helps!!!!
