I get "i KNOW God exists" from Christiand more often that i blink. But, you're not supposed to know God exists. He won't let you know He exists. There's the key of the whole question. What gives sense to the whole dementia. He wants you to believe in Him, in the face of the huge void of evidence, and another load of conflicting evidence. That's what "faith" is about. If you "know" God exists, what do you need your "faith" for?

Maybe for some of them 'knowing' doesn't require any proof.
Sounds more like they are mistaking knowledge for faith.

It would be nice to be that certain about something that I see as unknowable.
I can't imagine how they figured out the way something as complex as a god would be. Simply agreeing with the authority of the church really strikes me as too easy an answer.
Kudos to the ones in the know, they must be spectacularly wise people to have figured it all out.

The purported knowledge is based on faith. Indeed, it can't be based on anything else. But faith is the ultimate evil: it is the deliberate rejection of the essence of one's humanity -- the ability to apply logic to evidence and arrive at reasoned conclusions. As for the evidence, see:

I know God exists because of the evidence that surrounds us in creation as well as the personal relationship that I have with him. I put my faith in Christ's sacrifice for my redemption, because that is the really crazy part, God would come to Earth to save a group that daily choices to disobey him and suffers the worst form of punishment imaginable.

The evidence against God is in reality twisted evidence for God that atheist propaganda has taken and run with, all the evidence against God that you claim to have will not amount to much when you meet him face to face and give an account of your life to him.

It is a matter of perspective. Many of us believe in God based on personal experience, observations in Nature, Scripture, and our own human reason. You say there is a void of evidence. Those of us who believe disagree.

Similarly, we could turn it around and say that you believe that there is no God, in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary. Many atheists say that they know there is no God, and yet they cannot know that there is no God, since God does exist. So really, atheists only believe that there is no God.

When you become a 'born again' Christian, born of water and the Spirit as in John 3v5......you have the Spirit of God to guide you through life. You see many wonderful happenings and even miracles but you don't tell everyone as miracles can never be proved unless you witness them yourself.............
I have many great answers to prayer for other people and for myself...I know God exists.....even the way I came to know Him was surprising to me who was a heavy drinker, heavy smoker, swearer and fighter....want to find out more...please take a look at my website in particular 'Mikes Testimony' and 'Mikes Healing' http://groups.msn.com/allforourlordjesus
Because of what happened to me...my Faith can never be shaken
Best wishes, Mike.

Maybe our Christian friends have such strong faith that God exists, that it is completely true in their minds. But I do agree with you, we have faith and believe that God/Goddess exists. Within that faith I have often felt a Divine Presence and this reinforces my Faith. ----- Blessings!

Creation show God's power and majesty. So it is not a matter of faith but reason that God exists. Take for example your computer. Would you need evidence that there was a maker for your computer? You cannot hear, touch, see, taste, or smell the maker of your computer. Of course not because logic tells you that for your computer to exist there had to be an intelligent force behind it. The same is true of God and creation. Our universe, which is much more complex than your computer, had an intelligent force behind it also, and that is God. To say that the universe came to be by chance is like saying you took all your parts of your computer threw them in a tornado and the tornado blew out a fully operational computer. That of course makes no sense and does not follow reason. Some say the universe evolved. It evolved without any intelligent force behind it and the laws of nature turned out as good as they did.? This of course is rediculous, and there is not a shred of evidence for macro-evolution, fish to birds, ape to man, etc. There is evidence for micro-evolution, change within species, but this does not contradict scripture. Whenever someone tells you they have evidence for evolution, they actually have evidence for micro-evoulution. For me creation is full proof evidence for God, I do not have enough faith to believe in evolution due to its lack of evidence. God most certainly let people know He exist and He wants you to know Him. The Christian does not have faith God exist, but rather have faith that God came to earth as Jesus Christ, that He died for their sin, and rose from the grave and accended to heaven to the right hand of God the Father. If we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth that Jesus did this for us, to put us right with God, to have us cleansed of the sin that seperated us from God, to make Him Lord of our lives; then God will wash all our sins away and give us His Holy Spirit sealing us for eternal life in heaven with Him. Jesus is the only way to heaven, because only in His name can your sins be forgiven. Also, Jesus will come back to earth to collect those that are His own and to pass judgement on those who did not receive God's grace. This is what the Christian has faith in. Peace be with you.

That which is invisible has been cleary seen.

"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities— his eternal power and divine nature— have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Rom 1:20

You see?
