Yup.
Roman Saturnalia, Norse/Germanic Yule, many others. I believe the actual day itself was considered the birthday of Mithras, cental deity of a Roman mystery religion which bears a striking resemblance to christianity.
The Winter Solstice was a known, observable, and frequently holy event in ancient cultures . . . and Dec. 25th was far enough *after* it for primitive calculations and measurements to be sure the Solstice had, indeed, occurred.

It's was a festivity called the Saturnalia that was part of the pagan beliefs of the Romans before Christianity was imposed as their official religion by the Emperor Constantine the Great. The Roman Church (later Catholic Church), thought that incorporating the pagan beliefs into Christianity will make it easier for the Romans to accept the change.

The three major religions all borrow ideas, places of worship and feasts from pagan religions.
Religious sites have been passed down over the centuries. Probably because in every religion there is an element of essential truth and Godliness that transcends the human interpretation of God and that particular religion's teachings.
That humans for thousands of years felt the 25th Dec was special and magical probably means we have got it right.!
So no problem there.

Yule as it is known is the celebration of the death of the Oak King. It normally is 22nd December and to cover it up the Xians used the date of 25th Dec to celebrate the birth of Christ
Yule is basically the end of the old year and the beginning of the new.

Yes. Very good..Yule and the winter solstice Dec 21. As with most holidays, started out as pagan but then the church took them.

How else do you think that Satan could steal worshiper from Yahweh, she certainly would not draw people to her with the Feast of Yahweh written in the Holy Scriptures, passover, tabernacles and even the 7th day sabbath has been changed. These Sabbaths are the mark of Yahweh........
Exd 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a SIGN (MARK) between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] Yahweh that doth sanctify you. .
So if you don't have this, the mark of Yahweh, what mark do you have?

From what I understand. It was the Roman Saturnalia, and adopted into the Christian faith to make Christianity more acceptable to pagans.

yes and is the 2nd part of the Isis ritual w/ the egg and rabbit they named Easter.
all holidays that "Christians" and most follow are pagan. one just has to study them to realize this. then one just has to read the bible to realize the true 7 holidays or better known as feasts and also tells us what to do with such pagan items.
yet the world has not followed such simple rules and then we wonder why we see war, global warming, etc. we are all so smart yet so child like we can't follow one basic rule.
sad isn't it.
I myself follow the 7 feasts, no holidays here.

If you think that's bad, you should see how many pagan gods of the Irish became "Saints" when the catholic church came to the emerald isle. Politics and lip service!

Yeah, it was Saturnalia, and Yuletide, and other events that they sucked in...
If JC was real, and it was during the census for tax time, then it would have been in April...The IRS and the Romans have the same tax due dates...
