I am grateful that there are some people willing to risk their lives for the welfare of the rest of us. Isn't that the definition of a hero?

I don't understand you're question?

"to fight our wars for us."...I don't know what you think, but our military is composed of volunteers of everyday American people. We ARE the military, and vice versa. The military is our wives, husbands, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and us. Lucky? No, that's not luck, that's bravery.

The founding fathers thought it was dangerous to have a standing military. It gives the government too much power.

Damn Straight! Much better than a bunch of ill trained civilians playing soldier.

I don't know about you, but I sleep much better at night knowing that Professional American soldiers are willing to put themselves in harms way to keep the rest of us safe.
