Do they actually drive and if so can they put their hands on their hearts and say. I never ever break the speed limit.
I have a vivid memory of a taxi driver my firm used to use many years ago whio boasted that he had never broken the speed limit or had an accident in 35 years. Blimey he must have caused hundreds, those who sat with him came out shaking

I was staanding at a road junction near where I live and there was an awful racket of police sirens. Guess who Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Another time about three miles from there there it was the Queen. So it is one law for some and another for the rest

Those who lecture you on speeding likely have lost someone they love to a speeding accident that didn't have to happen if someone had been going the speed limit, or atleast not 20 miles an hour over the speed limit.
Last fall I lost a close friend who was really more like a brother because his friend was trying to show off and went 60 in a 25 zone, and a car pulled out... The driver swerved to avoid it, then over-corrected, and hit an oak tree, instantly killing himself, and my friend died in the hospital. They were both wearing seat belts, and the airbags had in fact deployed.
Also when I was about 4 I lost my best friend (and older brother) to an accident, he was riding his motorcycle and a drunk idiot was speeding and ran him down because he "didn't see" Josh; rather, he was speeding and didn't have the time or reactions required to avoid him, thanks to the deadly combination of alcohol and speeding.
PLEASE don't speed. I'd give anything to see Josh and Allan again, but I can't, so the best I can do is to try to convince others to not speed. I'd like to say I'm one of those people who never speeds, but I do- on roads I've been down thousands of times, in a car I know can handle it, never with anyone else in the car, and only where I can see for a very long ways in front of me.

I try not to break the speed limit on most roads. Have to admit I tend to go a touch faster that 70 on the motorway though.
But, the fact is that there are legal speed limits and they are there for a reason. What the **** makes someone so important that they can ignore that? Or that they can try to harrass the person in front into going faster than they feel safe doing?

Boring as it sounds, the speed limits are there for a reason.
The police should take images of road accidents around the 6th form at school (when most are learning to drive) and show them what can happen, then maybe some people would think twice about speeding. It is not clever and although slow drivers are annoying, it is the people who get annoyed and take the silly risks that are in the wrong!

Actually I know a couple of judges that are alcoholic, and regularly drive under the influence....then the next day they take the licence off another person for drinking and driving...
No...the law is there for those that get caught unfortunately...not for everyone....
when I was a student...many moons ago...I hitched a lift from London to Leeds....in a Rolls Royce....turned out the guys were very bored British diplomats...just back from abroad....
We tore up the road at 110 miles an hour....past police cars.
never got stopped....apparently it was the plates....some diplomatic code or something....good fun as a student....but infuriating when I think about the laughing stock it makes of British justice....

You've only got to see what local authorities are doing, by slapping lower speed-limits on every piece of tarmac that exists. Those poor little lighting-up reminder signs are permanently on these days, and everyone knows that they serve no useful purpose whatsoever.
The traffic people haven't saved any lives yet, of course, but they like to think that what they do is terribly vital.....and it keeps them employed of course.
There are the same people who place concrete blocks at the side of the road to create parking refuges, with a single concrete post and a tiny reflector to warn people if its existence. They never get cleaned, with the result that in bad visibility, people drive into them.
A new one in Bradford is 9" high......enough to destroy a car and kill a motorcyclist.
This they call road-planning!
There is not shortage of people with clipboards, scrambled egg on their shoulders or a highly paid job to justify, but their overall contribution to road-safety has been almost zero.
They install "safety cameras" (revenue raisers) in the daftest of places, and often on wide, clear stretches of road. I know of just ONE school which has cameras at each approach, and they are set to activate at a speed which would be lethal when school finishes. At that time, 100% of drivers drop their speed to no more than 15-20mph.
Only a few people drive so badly that they endanger others; but everyone has to suffer, because the officials have to justify their existence.
Remember all the hoo-ha about Lincolnshire's accident rate?
See all the speed cameras, road signs and markings nowadays?
There's been no improvement to the casualty figures!
