The term 'troll', as used on the internet, didn't come from fairy tale trolls. It came from a method of fishing. Later, it was used to describe men who hung out in mens rooms trying to attract homosexuals.

On the internet, that mens room analogy came into use because what trolls did so resembled the trolling in mens rooms.

On YQA RS followers of the evangelical atheism faith, and some who claim to have scientific knowledge gravitate to this QA to indulge in the 'trolling' mens room behavior, though they deny it.

But they claim they have no faith.

Seems to me they troll here for several possible motives,

1] They admit by default to their faith,
2] They're just intellectual pigmies who've been kicked around all their lives and want to anonymously be smug and condescending, or
3] They're silly, nosy busybodies who actually care what beliefs strangers embrace.

What do you think?

Good post ...I think everyone can see how many atheist TROLLS are asking questions here on the Q & A....simply to see how many other perverts they can attract to their foolish anti-God thinking.

I think a forum meant to be for asking questions about religion will get people asking about religion from several perspectives.
At one point the Christians tried to turn this section of Y!A into nothing except a prayer circle. They were reporting anything non christian out of existence and were reporting any question except the "Isn't Jesus Wonderful," type off as well.
The atheists are very seriously effected by the religions and what religiuons do. They face religious persecution every day of their lives.
Where should they be asking or answering questions about it, if not here. It makes no sense trying to take over another section of Q+A for it.

Now if you quit being so worried that you need to try calling them all gays trolling the men's room and actually pay attention to their cross talk you might actually learn something about how your religions function.

The atheists have been generally forced to learn about religion because of the harm it has done to them and to society in general.

Nice troll anyway. Almost, but not quite flamebait.

None of the above. I think you can't handle atheism, and seek to put it down by making anyone atheist who has a conflicting viewpoint to your own out to be some kind of degenerate. I believe "ad hominem" is the term for your attack, and I believe you are a weak person for resorting to it, and it makes you look foolish.

You forgot to mention which of the 8,000 Gods that man has created that you follow but it is lamentable to watch people in the 21st century given credence to ancient books that talk of unicorns, talking snakes & bushes,a flat unmovable earth, split moons, suns setting in pools of mud--etc--you need more than faith to believe in such nonsense--you need to be retarded.

You seem to care what other people believe. Christians in general are obsessed with it - and want to change it.

We atheists are just fightingback. Christianity has had its 2000 years and it almost destroyed the world - now its someone else's turn.

" ...intellectual pigmies who've been kicked around all their lives and want to anonymously be smug and condescending...", rather sums up your whole little posting here, doesn't it?

I still have no idea what "evangelical atheism" means.

I think you're slinging a lot of invective and accomplishing very little.

I couldn't agree more. Almost all of their "questions' would constitute trolling. I love your terminology - I've noticed that "hot gospel" flavor to their rhetoric myself. In fact,i just posted a question asking if they were mostly from fundie backgrounds. LOL! And I agree.

as one who is neither atheist nor Christian, I find the atheists to be more polite, more tolerant, more intelligent, and offer more substance in the ongoing debate.

Methinks thou art jealous.
