1) If we evolved from monkeys... then we would have a temporal paradox on our hands. We didn't evolve from monkeys. We share a common ancestor.

2) If atheism isn't a religion... then I'm not the Queen of England. I'm not the Queen of England. Atheism isn't a religion.

3) How can the atheists believe the universe evolved... when the theory of evolution doesn't have anything to do with matter in general? It has to do with the development of life over many many generations, and atheists know this and don't make a silly mistake like that.

4) Is faith required... in a secular nation like the United States? No.

5) Are atheists smarter... than theists? As a group, yes. Atheists as a whole tend to be more educated than the general population. (This is not a stab at individual theists. I'm not saying that all theists are less intelligent than all atheists. I'm saying simply that uneducated people are more likely to the be theist, not that theists are uneducated.)

6) The laws of thermodynamics... have nothing to do with the universe as a whole. Entropy applies to a closed system, which the universe is not because it is expanding.

7) Atheists: look at the world around you... and congratulate yourselves for making more sense than most people.

8) Why do you criticize... atheists when your own beliefs just fill in holes with made up stuff?

9) Can you prove... that some form of deity exists? Of course you can't, so stop being obnoxious, pretending like you know everything.

For point one, read Darwin. He nowhere says we evolved from apes. He suggests we and the apes evolved from the same genetic parent. The man evolved from apes rubbish came from a bunch of critics who cannot actually understand the science, and cannot be bothered to try.

For point two, atheism is the belief that there is/are no God/Gods. It is a belief structure, but since it has no Deity or metaphysical baisis it cannot be classed as a religion. Certain Deists try to classify it as such, but that indicates their unwillingness to accept ideas contrary to their own opinions. Believing that the Yankees will not win the pennant does not make you a baseball fan.

For point three, atheists no doubt believe all kinds of different things. Many accept evolution as a very likely theory. Some believe we were left by aliens, I bet. Since you are stuck on the evolution theory, may I ask what actual evidence exists that it is not valid? The collected studies of many well intentioned and highly principled scientists have come up with volumes of supporting evidence, but not one antiDarwinist has come up with any refutation beyond blind faith.

Point four deals with faith. Faith is most important to any believer, and agnostic old me considers the atheists and Deists in the same boat there. Lacking any evidence of any Creator(s)' existence, how can anybody be that sure?

Point five begs the question, "smarter than who?" They very likely to be smarter than some individual who believes the Christian misinterpretation of the Torah is the Divinely inspired word of God. Why did the Christers steal a God, but ignore His teachings?

The classic example might be the misinterpretation of the kosher laws in Deuteronomy as a prohibition against medical intervention, but that is only one. Since they otherwise ignore the kosher laws anyway, why should they matter? If they are divinely inspired, why are you eating pork? Christians cannot insist the Old Testament is the word of God, and then ignore the parts they don't like.

The Old Testament also says that each man must find his own way to God, and forbids prozelytizing, yet Christians feel entitled to "testify" at the top of their selfrighteous lungs.

Please do not try to discuss Darwin before you read him yourself. He was a devout Christian, himself, and insisted there was room for his theory within the faith. Read HIM, not some excrement kicker who gets paid to rant about what he's been told Darwin said.

2....it's just the belief there is no god. We follow what society thinks is right, which is constantly changing through the different generations.
3....who said anything about the universe evolving? we are just talking about us right now, one step at a time.

5....no one is smarter than anyone. Intelligence isn't a factor when talking about religion or lack there of.

7....It's full of the things humans have created from the earth. Except nature, that's the planets doing.
