Yes, Bose is the top of the consumer line.

Yes, Bose are better, but they are overpriced compared to many other high-end speakers. I would suggest you get a price on a pair of Bose that you really like and then go to a high end store and ask them to show you some speakers in the same price range as the Bose. Audition them and you be the judge!

For receivers, you can't go wrong with the brand names, Sony, Pioneer. I especially like the Denon and Yamaha lines.

Hope this helps!

In short yes.

The engineers at BOSE have focused all of their attention on the development of quality audio. Now understand that consumer level BOSE product you buy from Costco is just that, Consumer level as with all technologies the premier performance comes with a price.

The engineers at Sony have been developing a miriad of technologies. LCD TV's Have gobbled up most of R & D of late. Don't get me wrong Sony Has some quality offerings on the table.

The question you need to ask yourself is "What kind of room am I going to put the speakers in?" The environment and compatibility of the equipment are key to a professional sounding system.

Insure that your impeedance and wattage are well matched with the amplifier. Look into the sonic performance of the room. Some walls are reflective to audio broadcast at them. This results in a confused audio broadcast that is muddied up with reflections.

Take some time to research home theater speaker placement available from several manufacturers websites.

As long as you have a quality speaker conected to a quality amp installed into a compatible room your result will be quality audio.

Hi. In audio there is no such thing as saying "is one brand of speaker better than the other brand "All loudspeakers are designed to reproduce the electrical signal they receive from the power amplifier, convert that signal into an acoustical equivalent without adding any "sound" of its own to the signal .All speakers add some sound of their own, also known as "colouration"so audiophiles try to buy the ones that have the least colouration which is no easy task because there are so many to choose from. Also some people prefer a speaker to "sound" a certain way so in effect they want a speaker with some coloration in a particular frequency range such as a bright sounding speaker a forward sounding (mid range emphasis of voice and singing) and speakers with a heavy bass sound that is out of proportion to the rest of the range. And of course ones in between the three examples.

Also the type of amplifier we own will have a big influence on what speakers we should buy.If the signal received from the pre-amp is damaged in any way, it will pass that damaged signal to the power amp to be furthur amplified and sent to the loudspeaker The speakers cannot improve the faulty signal .It is all they have to work on.Impedance matching is very important. If say we have a speaker with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms the term nominal means average which means the speakers impedance varies with frequencies the amplifier which isalso rated at 8 ohms must be able to deal with these impedance variations ,producing the amount of power necessary to drive the speaker at any frequency. If the amplifier runs into difficulty doing this, audible distortion occurs.

A lot of people with home theater systems will often ask "how many watts is that speaker" ? What they are trying to say is "how much power do i need for this speaker"?and "can i damage this speaker with my amp"?The answer to the questions is that a speaker is almost never damaged by an amplifier rated higher than the speaker as long as you are careful with the volume .But an amplifier that is under powered can damage a speaker if it is turned up too far and runs out of "steam"

So new speakers must be suitable with the Power Amplifiers' power rating and impedance match to work well in your system.
The speakers and amplifier are really one unit because they both depend on each other to work well and give you a satisfying sound

no, Sony is superior to Bose. but owning Sony gear is noting to brag about because it is also junk. Allot of people say that there are many different types of loudspeakers, This is not true. There are two types of speakers good speakers and bad speakers. There is no middle. Most speakers have a "different sound" That emphasis's The Bass, Treble, or mid range. The bad speaker company's do this where Bose Emphasizes bass, where infinity emphasizes treble. These are bad loudspeakers. Good loudspeakers do not "doctor" your sound they don't favor any part of the sound spectrum Bass, Treble or Mid range. These speakers play the recording exactly as is was meant to be heard, This is what a god speaker does.

Some Bose products are better than some Sony products.
Some Sony products are better than some Bose products.

Without specifying specific models to compare, it is impossible to give a meaningful answer. If you ask a generic, unspecific question, you'll receive a generic, unspecific answer.

Sony does a huge range from budget to high end whereas Bose only cater for the higher end of the market.

Personally I’d go with Bose

I think so. I also think Polk are better than Bose. For recievers/amps I like Yamaha but Denon has some excellent stuff as well.
