Gaining weight is all about taking in more calories than you burn, and if you aren't gaining weight, you aren't doing this. So you need to make sure you are taking in more calories than you normally would, and make sure you aren't burning a ridiculous amount of calories...i.e. no marathon running. Most of the time when people have this problem they aren't taking in nearly as many calories as they think. Don't just stuff your face all day like some people tell you. But you should be eating a good amount of food throughout the day. Aim for 3-4 full meals and snack whenever you feel like it. If all else fails you might want to see your doctor, some people have hyperthyroidism (I think that's what it's called, an overactive thyroid) which prevents them from gaining weight. And there are certain medicines that can help to slow your thyroid down. Best of luck!

You have my sympathies. Although with so many of us 'striving to lose weight' your problem might seem 'easy' ... but I know it's not at all easy ... especially when you 'eat like a pig' and are skinny, and all around you, your friends are 'eating healthy, eating slim' and getting mad at you for your 'skinniness.'
Believe it or not, I'm going to tell you to go on the same 'basic' diet plan ... but instead of having your 'intake' lower than the calories burned, you should have it at least 500 calories HIGHER. So, yes, it's just as important for you to 'do exercise' ... many 'skinny people' are truly just 'thin obese people' because they have no 'real solid muscle' ... just 'very thin and fragile muscle' and the rest is 'fat' (even though you may look like skin and bones.
For you, it's important to eat more 'protein foods' and get some 'good fat' (omega 3s and 'unsaturated fat) first, and save your 'salads' for after you eat. Start exercising slowly, and do exercises to both 'build good muscle' and increase your 'stamina.'
You, too, should 'treat yourself' regularly ... but instead of having only two 'bites' (the size of a Hershey's Kiss is one bite) of dark chocolate, between meals and before bedtime, eat four bites, and have some ice cream (the richer the better) with your fruit.
What you need to 'think about' and try to do is 'slow down your metabolism' ... you can do this if you start doing Yoga exercises, and have a teacher who knows what you need to do to 'slow down' rather than speed up. Don't 'totally slow down, though, or you'll be in the same boat as the rest of us ... and be 'fighting fat' ... just find a 'good balance' and try to keep that good balance going until you reach your 'optimum weight' and then 'even off both ends' of the diet and exercise, and you should look and feel much better ... and you should also 'be better' ... healthier, happier, because you don't feel like you are an 'eating machine' any more.

I have the same PROBLEM.I eat alot.I would just finish having lunch and see food and go and eat like I never had eaten lunch like 15mins ago.

However I became a veggie two months ago and although I eat as much I've found that I've begun gaining weight.I know it seems weird but its true.I just posted a question about it in V&V section. One of the answer I got is that my weight increased because now I was actually paying more attention to what I ate and not just eating anything because I felt like eating.

Hope you get your answer.Enjoy the rest of your day.Smile

OMG I have the same problem!! And I have no clue what to do either. I was thinking about taking drinks like Ensure and stuff like that or going to GNC and buying weight gain stuff, but i'm not sure yet. My uncle used to take Ensure and other weight gain drinks and it really worked. Well Good Luck!

- I also heard that bread makes you gain weight also.
- Start exercising also, it makes some people thicker

Talk to a doctor--you might want to get your thyroid and other things checked out to make sure nothing is wrong. Although, we need more information to really help you out here--if you're a teenager, it might be that you're just going through a gorwing spurt--which will then backfire on ya when you're done because you'll have a really bad eating habbit and you'll gain a lot of weight when your growth spurt is over with.

Your best bet is to go through menopause.

You won't have any trouble gaining weight after that.

You will also wrinkle, feel more pain, and feel tired and confused.

Being skinny isn't the worst thing in life; learn how to find ways to look good and complement your body size with your clothing and hairstyle.

Get less sleep to increase cortisol levels in your body. This helps your body turn more energy into fat, and decreases it's ability to form new tissues.

Also, no exercise. And, instead of eating multiple meals, try to cram all of your calories into one giant meal, so all the excess will be stored as fat.

Easiest way to gain weight.

Eat at least six full meals a day and do some weight training. Also try drinking some protein shakes or muscle milk.

In your other question you mention that you are 17, and 6'4". It's really hard to gain weight when you're growing like that. Give it some time. Once you stop growing, your body will fill out more.
