First of all, I think it may help a lot of you understand that the stories of creation in Genesis, the Big Bang, and evolution are only theories; not one of them has been proven. Therefore, believing one of these theories is just as ignorant as believing another since they all share the same common evidence.

Well, we all know about the theories of the Big Bang and evolution and what not, so I thought you might be interested in a few different theories that might make you think a little.

1) Creation Stories = Myths
Many Christians already believe many stories from the Old Testament to be fictional. Some stories which mantain their accountability include the stories of Abraham and his descendants as well as the Exodus. There is immense evidence which points to this conclusion. The Yahwist writers and the Priestly writers wrote the book of Genesis in the form of inspirational letters (keep in mind that, although it's in Genesis, the story of Abraham was *not* intended to be fictional). Genesis, composed of these letters, was written during the Babylonian Exile of the Israelites. These inspirational letters were written to fellow exiles to keep the faith strong during these harsh times.

Also, although irrelevant to your question, part of this theory is that Deuteronomy was not written by Moses. Instead, it was written through Moses' s perspective by the Deuteronomists. The Deuteronomists were commissioned by King Josiah, ruler of Judah 30 years before the Exile, to write the book of Deuteronomy (which means "Second Law") because the king felt that the law was incomplete, and this book was meant to somehow keep his people under control.

2) Creationist Theory = Science
Wow! This is really interesting. Follow this link and see how some scientists are connecting Creationism with science. It actually sounds very convincing, and it also explains why there is a missing link in evolution.

Remember that all these theories are just theories, nothing more. I hope that you take the time to look into to some of these strange theories and find that they are equally as logical and scientific as that of the Big Bang and evolution.

I believe in God and everything that the bible says about Him, including how He created the universe and all of life as described in Genesis. The problem with the question you continue to pose, is that you state science own the big band theory and evolution, therefore if you do not agree with these you are anti-science. These are tall claims. These are just theories that science has provided for us. Science does not prove these to be true in any way, just comes up with ideas and events to support these claims. Just the same, science can be used to come up with ideas and event to support the bible.

Just because I do not agree with the big bang and evolution does not mean I am anti-science. I do not agree with bush or the war, but that does not mean I am anti-american

Read "God and the Biologist" by R J Berry... he's a reputed geneticist and christian :) Challenging but v good book on why Science does not disprove God/religion and how the 2 'theories' work together.
I believe in all of it:)
Genesis doesn't tell us the mechanisms God uses for creation, how can something come from nothing, How is everything just SO precise and in the EXACT right balance of atoms/gases/structure etc for life? God's 'day's' in Genesis dont necessarily refer to our own 24hr days, since God is eternal a 'day' for him could be unimaginably long for us.
Admittedly, I do still have many questions which I'm still looking into:P, but since i believe in God and the Bible... I believe He created everything. The 'scientist' in me says evolutionary theory is correct. R J Berry points out that there is no problem with this :)
Read it;)

And anyone who has a different opinion is a completely retard.

What exactly is a "completely retard"

Catholics are not anti-Science, Genesis was not written as literal, but as a guide to show us the order and meaning of Creation. You have to "think outside the box" to grab that but that should be no problem for a "Free thinker" like you.

We do not believe that Science has given proof of either Evolution OR the Big Bang theory, but I see no reason that either one being proven would change my faith one bit. The specifics of HOW we were created does not change the WHY or the by whom we were created for me.

You can go back to your name calling now.

Peace be with you.

I'll try not to be a retard.

The problem as I see it is that there is science and there is stuff called science that is a bunch of hooey and is NOT science at all. There are also limits to what science is good for.

You cannot prove historical events with science, because you cannot repeat the experiment. Can you prove what I had for lunch a month ago with science? No you cannot. Can you prove or disprove God with science? No you cannot. Here is why.

Science ASSUMES a natural cause for things. If the cause is supernatural, it goes outside of the usefulness of science.

The scientific method needs repeatable experiments to verify the accuracy of it. If that cannot be done, there is no way to know if the theory is correct or not.

When we try to use a tool outside of what it is good for, we get all kinds of weird answers. People try anyway and call things like evolution science.

Evolution is not science. It's attached to the name of science so people will trust it. Science gave us computers and TV and better health care and light bulbs and all kinds of great things. Who can argue with science? So that's why evolution was associated with it. If I don't buy it, I'm called anti-science? Give me a break. Kind of makes me mad.

Learn to spell and use better grammar, then try to call us retards.

The Bible says God created the heavens and the earth. They didn't say it was with a big bang or not with a big bang, but it does say God created Adam. Not a monkey that evolved into Adam, just Adam, from dust. Not all science is against creationism, science contradicts itself. It really shouldn't if it's totally subjective, but science is from scientists, fallible humans, so it will never be perfect. We all understand that, changes are made in the textbooks every year, knowledge is gained, and some "facts" are changed. I'm just saying it should cause some reasonable doubt.

Oh, and when twin brothers Jacob and Issac were born, one was pink and hairless, and the other was "like a hairy garment" when he popped out. As a baby. People can resemble monkeys or not whenever God wants them to. Maybe his skeletal structure was gone wild, too, who knows?

I personally believe that what is said in Genesis is the exact way it happened. I don't know exactly why, but the idea of my ancestors being monkeys just never seemed to sit right with me. Anyway, I am really just going from faith alone but I have seen some pretty good arguements from both sides (except those people who claim that people planted dinosaur bones to make the earth look older because honestly, can you say psycho). In my opinion dinosaurs were made by God and just went extinct (don't know why) just like many other animals have done. I guess nothing would really change my opinion because religion retards sciene just as much as science retards religion.

there are alot of christians in science....i am one of them

i believe in the genesis account.... i used to consider that maybe god used evolution to accomplish creation...but the evidence, if understood in its detail, does not really support it....genesis mentions days in terms of the evening and the morning as one day......so that would mean a literal day, as we know it...there are other passages, where a day is as a thousand years....but this application is not used in the genesis account

we also have to remember that evolution is a theory, which means there is not enough evidence to support it as a scientific law.

god did not really say how the stars were formed....only that he spoke them into existence....there could have been a big bang....but those details are not addressed in genesis.

do not loose alot of sleep over this issue,,.,..no one in science really cares about this to even discuss it as an issue, except for maybe the anthropologists.....you will not walk into any science laboratory, and hear people discussing evolution, as if that makes their day...we are more concerned about more important things, like a cure for cancer, or arthritis, or some other disease....or maybe a new drug legislation that is pending.

there is no money in prooving evolution so most scientists do not bother with it.

the point is.......we are here......so where we are going is more important....

Yes I'm christian and I am anti junk science.

The main question is
Why are non-christians so in love with junk science?

Just because someone says it's science doesn't mean it IS science. The man induced global warming debate is a good example of this. It is becomming more and more evident that the "scientific community" may be very wrong about a lot of things they use to support this theory.

Stop feeding the world so much junk science, and we will stop being so careful with all the stupid crap you call science.

christians are not anti science. and science isn't all based on the big bang theory or evolution. There are christian scientists. I do not believe in the big bang theory, or evolution. I believe in God and God alone. and btw, evolution is not a theory it is an idea. a theory is an idea that has a lot of evidence to prove it.
