Got tested recently and found to have an intolerance to certain food groups,I did not think it was as bad as an allergy.

Food intolerance can be debilitating enough. If there are foods you cannot tolerate, don't eat them.

I am intolerant to poultry. If I get a little bit of chicken in a food, I will have severe diarrhea for three days. I will run to the bathroom for 12 times per day. I will get so weak that I have to crawl from my bed to the bathroom. Sometimes the whites of my eyes are yellow afterwards from being so sick. I lose weight and muscle. That is how bad it can be. If it got much worse, I would probably wind up in the hospital with dehydration.

It really kind of depends. Allergies are different in the fact that they can lead to an anaphlaytic (sp?) shock at any given time. However intolerances can be devastating in the aspect of something like Celiac Disease, an inability to process gluten, that can go untreated for YEARS and is very debilitiating with a wide array of symptoms. Some intolerances like lactose can be managed by enzymes (like lactaid) and what not. (I think some ppl still need to avoid dairy bc their intolerance is severe.)
Celiac is something u cannot change, ignore or get rid of. Lifelong gluten free diet is the only option. So I guess it depends on what intolerances you have. If you'd like more ifno on Celiac, please feel free to email me.

Depends, my son is allergic to eggs, they break him out on his legs, behind the knees. He gets sores with infection in them and they itch which puts him in a really bad mood because constant itching does that to you but he loves eggs and they dont cause him to stop breathing or anything life threatening so you just have to figure out how bad your reaction to that food is and if you are willing to live with them "inconvenience" if it is mild like my sons is than eating the food is really up to you. If your reaction is like my sons I would suggest Aveno lotions and Aveno oatmeal bath soaks. Also benadryl gel is excellent too.
My son also has allergies to perfume/cologne and flowers. The perfume/cologne can cause him to get so infected that his skin will turn purple from the bruising of so much infection under the irratated skin and the flowers will cause his throat to swell up so much that he has stopped breathing. So just figure out first from your allergy dr how severe your reactions are and go from there. Remember you never out grow food allergies but you can grow into them.
Good luck
