ok uumm..... ur room sounds cute.
and it sounds adult enough to me.
concidering that u can't really get anything else to put in there.. i would just advise that you take down posters or stuffed animals and if u have any girly things then put them your dresser so that u can still use them but their not in the open ... and if u hung up a few photo frames it would make ur room look a little more "grown-up"

Well theres not much you can do if you can't paint or change the furniture. Ask your mom to reconsider. Say you'll do all the work and contribute some money if she buys you some paint and a new bedspread and curtains or something.

Bright green walls seems a bit garish to be grown-up but change your bed cover to a cream coverlet with some matching cushions. paint the shelves cream and 'dress up' the dresser with some nice photo frames (photos of family?) and clear off the kiddie stuff. Your curtains could also be changed to a cream fabric to mute down the color of the walls too... good luck

well it would really help if you could paint the walls a light tan color and add maybe pics with white frames tan colored candles just get rid of the curtains paint the shelves a light purple to go with the bed spread , and that would lokk 100x better and more grown up
good luck

Donate, store, or throw away:
1] stuffed animals
2] kid games [ save Twister ]
3] kid books, magazines, etc.
4] kid artwork/school projects
Then:
a] Get some throw pillows in the green, pink, and purple or print of all three colors
b] tie curtains back with green, purple, or greeen and purple ties
c] add floor rug[s] in colors you want to emphasize - purple? green?
d] add floral wreath or swag with room colors
e] cover bulletin board with pretty fabric, and criss cross with lace or ribbon in room colors
I. offer to work for money to buy paint, and curtains/bedspread.
II. buy bedding and curtains before selecting paint - easier to match!

wow, why won't she let you paint?

anyway, to tone it down maybe you can die your bedspread and curtains to a darker green to tone down the walls a bit. if not, you can get a piece of material and sew it on your bedspread, I did that one year for my kids. 4 yards of material was only like $7.00 and they loved it.
you can use the rest of the materials and sew curtains. its real simple.

good luck.

She's ok with the bright green walls? WOW! I would think she'd want those repainted.

What is it that she's going to allow you to change? You can't change walls, can't change bedding, can't change curtains. So, you are stuck with a minimum of 3 colors. Only thing you can do is add MORE colors, and I don't think you want to go that route.

You are just going to have to talk to her and see if she will let you paint the walls yourself or let you earn money to change the bedding and curtains. I know you said she wouldn't let you, but if you are willing to do it with your own labor and own money, she may be more willing to let you do it.

You can use sheets for curtains. Cheap, lots of colors/prints to choose from, and already hemmed. She may be willing to let you do that.

She may let you go over the walls with a glaze to tone them down a bit. But, honestly, repainting would be easier.

She may also consider letting you buy a duvet cover and using your current bedspread/comforter as the duvet. They are relatively inexpensive, too ($25 or so), but you can buy a comforter set new for around $40 in some areas.

Check domestications.com. They have some very inexpensive sets that she may give in and let you have. And, there is always Christmas and birthdays............

simple things like getting rid of "childish" knick knacks, and posters, minimizing the amount of stuffed animals you have, toys, etc. (if you still have any toys laying around that you might've forgotten about) See if you can dye your curtains the same color as your bed spread, or vice versa. (not sure if that type of fabric can be dyed, read the label on the dye). Having a few main colors instead of a bunch will help tie everything together and will make it look better. If you can, get some throw rugs that either match your walls, or your bedspread and shelves. (and curtains, if you can dye them). That'll work for now..if you can, save up your money for a new bed set and matching curtains. Green walls can look sophisticated, depending on what you accent them with.

If you know how to sew (or know someone who does) you can make curtains, and a brand new bed spread for a fraction of the cost of buying them brand new. To make a new bed spread, you measure the one you have now, and buy fabric one to 2 inches bigger around. sew 2 sides, and put your old comforter inside (straighten it up, it might be kind of tricky), then sew the rest of it shut. You can find better instructions online on how to do that.

If you cant do that, buy some fabric that matches your walls, (and curtains, if you cant dye them) and make some throw pillows. Since green, purple, and pink are completely different colors, it'll help tie in your bed with your walls. Then get some pictures for your walls that have purple and pink in them that match your bed spread and curtains..or buy some frames and paint some pink and some purple, to match the curtains and bed spread.

theres some ideas for your walls. they do involve painting but not an entire paint job. It'd be less messy than painting your walls entirely, and most of those ideas wouldnt use nearly as much paint. If you have any of your old paint left, you could add some white to it to ligthen it, and go over your walls with a sponge to add texture to them.Theres lots of little things you can do that dont cost a lot of money, but will make a big difference.
