Are there any known side effects of a head shave, like migraine head aches, insomnia or anything else associated with a woman going from long hair to no hair. I heard you would need to wear a cap while sleeping.

Also does the clipper shaving process cause any pain or discomfort to the hair cut-ee.

Thanks for everyone who answered our last question!!

I had really long hair in 1981 when I enlisted in the navy. The haircut they give you is a buzz cut (electric clippers).

For several days, I could not bring myself to touch my head without feeling creepy. I had been growing my hair long for about 10 years and it was just wierd feeling an almost bald head.

It is a lot cooler, especially when you put your head down on a cool pillow. And, that might explain why you see guys with the bald head and goatee thing always wearing stocking caps.

One thing to remember is that any skin flaws on the scalp will also be visible. I got hit in the head with a rock when I was about 6 and, when they buzzed all my hair off, I noticed the scar for the first time in my life. Oh, and watch out for sunburns. The scalp is going to be very sensitive to sunlight, since it's never really been exposed to it, and will burn easily.

It sure makes washing your hair a breeze though.

My aunt had cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy and lost all her hair.

The one thing she complained about the most is that you never really realized how much your hair keeps you warm until it's gone. She said she was always cold.
