Kindly, fairly, and with respect, as the the Holy Qu'ran says to treat them.
Dear Rev, the surah's you quote above have to deal with pagans and other non-believers who were out to destroy the early Muslims. However, Jews and Christians are recognized as people of the book and are therefore believers in Allah. Many early Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities co-existed in peace, because of their common belief in Allah.

I only associate with other Muslims, except for my Father. We are warned in the Quran that in associating with non-Muslims we run the risk of picking up their customs. By associating only with Muslims, I am encourage every day to be a better Muslim by the example of those around me. Of course, I DO have to interact with non-Muslims on some level, whether at the store, sometimes through my work, etc, and I try to remember that I am representative of something larger and greater than myself, the Ummah, and that the impression I leave on people may make or break their opinion of Islam, so I am respectful, courteous, and honest.

Whenever I come in contact with a non-Muslim, I try to treat them with respect and kindness as you said, and as well as tolerance. You are absolutely right it's better to be friends than enemies with someone. May God help us make friends rather than enemies.
Peace.

Dear, They are treating others badly because they are following al-Quran and Mohammed's teachings For example: Hadith Bukhari - Book of faith : 24 (Mohammed's sayings) Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform a that, then they save their lives an property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah." From alquran: Altawbah:29 009.029 Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by God and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

I agree, do unto others as you would have done unto you, whether you are muslim or not. Bad treatment and killing is to be done in defense.
9:5] Once the Sacred Months are past, (and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), you shall let them go. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[9:6] If one of the idol worshipers sought safe passage with you, you shall grant him safe passage, so that he can hear the word of GOD, then send him back to his place of security. That is because they are people who do not know.
9:73] O you prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern in dealing with them. Their destiny is Hell; what a miserable abode!
Some Qurans just don't translate very well.

Selling a menu to a customer require skill and knowledge. The best approach is by educating the customer or guest and in friendships, we make a lot of friends when we understand each other. That is how I treat any person.

Dear All
There is a message for the whole of Humanity:
Chapter 49:13- . O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

to answer ur question, I agree with you 100%!!! i think the same way, if we are aggressive towards non-Muslims it shows to them that the image media portrays of us, Muslims, is correct; which of course, isn't!!!
And to Rev. Einstein, stop spreading crap!!! there are a lot of things The Quran tells us, so u can't just take one verse and manipulate it to prove ur point! So before knowing the Quran properly u shouldn't go out and try to teach people. I suggest u go seek proper knowledge before u starting quoting verses. it's people like u that gives Muslims bad name!
