Gambling for Beginners! Help Me!!!?

Question

Hi all,

I'm going Vegas in September and I have decided that I may as well try and win something. I AM NOT AT ALL INTO POKER - as I have a short attention span at times.

Does anyone know of any games which are easy to pick up and that I stand a chance of winning some dollars on? (or any websites that can guide me).

I may even share the winnings if I get any good tips.

blackjack is your best chance .. get a couple books and read up on it also when you go to the casino your staying most of them has classes(free or a nomonal charge) for all table games

BLACKJACK! Learn basic strategy, and sit a table where the minimum bet is $5 per hand. Once you get the hang of it, you can play at the table for hours with $100. The other good thing about black jack is you are not playing against other players. All players at the table are playing against the dealer, therefore other players at the table will HELP you. Blackjack is good- just get a book and memorize the basic strategy tables it provides. Craps can be fun but you can run through alot of money fast, even on a $5 min bet table. And then there are slot machines. The trick to playing slots is to sit down and dunk one coin in right when the cocktail waitress comes by, order up a free drink (drinks are free at the casinos on the strip), dunk another single coin in, pull, repeat until the drink gets there. It shouldn't cost more than a buck if you do it right. Then tip the waitress for the drink and move on. If you order expensive drinks (anejo tequila, name brand liquor and mixers), you will come out ahead, even if you don't win a penny from the slots.

I've heard Roulette has the lowest house odds, but they still do have odds (52%), so there really is no way to win unless you're willing to play a skill game like poker.

On the other hand, there is some strategy to Blackjack. Again, the house has an edge, but at least there is a viable, simple, logical strategy to minimize your losses. So, if your attention span isn't TOO low, you might want to try that.

Regardless of the game that you use, the best advice that I can give you is to preset the amount that you are willing to lose. When you reach that amount, stand up and walk away. You are not going to win it all back on the next round (and then the next and the next....).

Before you play anything, look around at the desperation on the faces of many of the players. Many are playing with their rent money and are desperate to win for fear of being thrown out of their home.

Black jack has a flow and if you master it the profits are unlimited.. but always quit while ahead.. its not so much how you play in vegas but its more if you win or lose.. If you win the important thing is to not give it back to the house. Seperate profits from stake and try not to go in to profits set aside. Never count money at table just leave starting stake on table at all times and put profits far out of reach. With wife or BFF or Life partner.

Well, I can't say from experience gambling (except on a cruise ship when I was 18--I am now 19), but something easy that doesn't require a long attention span would be blackjack. It's rather simple to understand and fast-paced. However, Texas Hold 'Em is a lot of fun, but it's definitely not something you should jump into without experience (and lots of it.)

I would say if your looking for something outside of poker, craps is your best bet. you can often find some cheaper limits, spread your money on a variety of different bets, and you'll find that you won't lose your money nearly as quickly as in something like blackjack, let it ride, roulette, etc. Craps is often especially enjoyable because the whole table is usually routing for the same rolls of the dice, so when you get a hot roller the whole table wins and gets exciting, which makes for a pleasant atmosphere.

Blackjack is your best bet.....Your best odds would be at craps, but that takes longer to learn than blackjack.....If the tables aren't too packed play two hands. This will increase your odds of winning a great deal.....Oh! and find the table with the lowest buy-in......Good Luck
