Have you experience of video editing software? Currently I use the bog-standard Windows movie maker, but the effects and transitions are pretty limited. Can you recommend others?

You should deff. get Sony Vegas 7.0. It's the ultimate movie editing software. But after the trial it's a bit pricey.

try VCD cutter, using this u can extract pictures, delete the unwanted sceens.
