I don't think many people still think Bush is doing a good job. But they don't say so because they'd be admitting that they were wrong, and that the principles of neo-conservatism are not perfect.
People support the Republicans for a number of reasons, and often they just pretend to believe in the rest of the agenda. Often these personal reasons have nothing to do with the -main- agenda of the party. Some people are just convinced that the Democrats are going to take their guns away, and they don't care about anything else! Or they believe the Republicans are going to ban abortion or make their own particular variety of Christianity our official national religion, and they don't care about anything else. A few people just want that $300 tax cut and don't care what happens after that. Sadly there are some of us who still want the Republicans to keep blacks and Hispanics in their place.
These are the people who still support Bush because they feel if they denounce him the only alternative is for the Democrats to win. So they -pretend- to think he's doing a good job, that the war is going well, that the media is liberal, etc. etc.

Yes, as John D. just said, it's always more difficult to do the right thing, rather than conforming to the crowd. Do you even realize how hard it must have been to deal with an unprecedented attack like 9/11? He's facing an enemy like no other president has ever had to deal with.
Cindy, very well said!
GC, Clinton tried to make the country a better place? By allowing Osama bin Ladin and Saddam Hussein to remain free? (Remember the 1993 WTC bombing?) Clinton could have gotton rid of them both during his two terms but was apparently too preoccupied with personal priorities.
"jesus_loves_me" & t_rex_is_mad, are you over in Iraq to see who is killing children? Have you ever heard of "insurgents"? You know, all the times you criticize Bush and our troops just encourages and empowers the insurgents and terrorists.
There is someone on Y!A who always closes his answers with "If you can't stand beind our troops, stand in front of them." Where would you choose?

For those who really do think he is doing a wonderful job... it boggles the mind, truly. We must be living in alternate universes or something!
I think (hope?) that many Bush supporters are simply in denial. Far easier to just go about life, go to work, buy useless crap, watch TV, and throw away time on the net then to actually get up and do something about it all.
And who can blame them? I admit it, I am not much different. I rant about what an incompetent, corrupt jerk he is, but that is just as useless as is ignoring the problem. What can be done, really? Impeach him? Please.... We are all stuck with the evil S.O.B., for bad or worse.

Unlike some of our former presidents, bush is trying to do what's right for the people. I am not going to name the former presidents, but I guarantee you, they hurt this country. I am not going to say war is good, but I do believe in defending your country. Who's to say, if we did not go to war, that the terrorist attacks would stop at 9/11. Every day, the government receives threats, but every day they are terminated. I am not really a Republican nor am I really a Democrat. All I know is that the Democratic party does not support the people. Hillary Clinton will not make a good president. Not even her husband was a good president. He had Bin Laden under custody and he let him go. Now how he could he do that. You can't say he did not know 9/11 was going to happen because you can't even say that. Clinton knew that an attack was planned because the world Trade center was already attacked in 1993.
News Flash, people have been blaming Bush for the economy, but the economy has been actually improving and it was under the Clinton administration that the economy fell.
Bus has also been trying to lower the taxes.
The no child left behind was a good idea, but you can't blame him for the lack of improvements because it all depends on how the teacher teaches and how the student reacts to the teaching methods.
You can't call him a bad guy just because he can't talk as well as you. That's just low.

Yeah, there are. I don't think anything's "wrong" with them, they just have a different interpretation of current events.
My mom is VERY pro-Bush, and she's also quite intelligent. She's much more pro-Bush than I am, lol. We argue about it constantly, and she holds her own. Why don't you ask the people who still like Bush why, without insinuating that something's wrong with them? That way you actually MIGHT get intelligent answers. But that isn't what you were hoping for with this question, is it?

I believe that bush is doing a fine job but he did make a little mistake on some things but I still respect him.... people just blame him because they have nobody else to blame, but Iv noticed that mostly Christians like Bush instead of non Christians, I find that a little disappointing.
p.s and I did not mean that all non believers hate bush..

Those who are still backing this fascist are uninformed and too lazy to educate themselves on what is really going on..they just swallow what they are being spoon-fed. Bush is peeing on the Constitution that he vowed to uphold and defend..that is NOT doing right for the people, only himself and his cronies, lining their pockets with money and blood. what is wrong with them, indeed!
...he was not elected by the people..elections need serious updating/revamping starting with the electoral college.

Bush was elected because he pandered to the far religious right...and through their support and money, he was elected.
They, (the religious right), did not care about his intelligence, his plan for the country, or if he had any aspirations or ideas to make the country a better place...they only cared that he said he was a born-again Christian, and his thoughts on abortion and homosexuality.
This is what happens when we elect a politician...not based on merit, ideas, intelligence or the best interest of the country...but, simply on dogma.
Clinton for all of his shortcomings, was at least intelligent and tried to make the country a better place. Bush doesn't have the knowledge, intelligence or desire to lead our country. He is governing by the seat of his pants...

Well, he is certainly doing a better job than I could, or that you could for that matter.
I do not even see another candidate out there right now who can step up to the plate and state outright that they can do a better job.
They have no problem stating that Bush is doing poorly, but have no solid answers on what needs to be done differently. Just that they want to be in the position of being called stupid and being told that they are doing a poor job of it all.
I have not walked in this mans shoes and have no desire to do so. If I ever did, I would certainly offer up solutions rather than complaints.

Apparently since he still has a satisfaction rating greater than zero. Perhaps those that still support the brainless wonder that is our president can't truly understand the damage he has done to this country.
