Even the theory of evolution states man and APE descended from a common ancestor. It never says we evolved from monkeys.
Could not an ape evolve from a more humanoid common ancestor instead of man evolving from a more ape like ancestor?
So why do you insist we came from a monkey?

Simple minds need simplicity so here goes. When christians ask the question "if we came from monkeys" just shows their ignorance with the theory of evolution. I was taking a jab at the assertion they make.

Evolutionists never assert that. The common ancestor could be more man like that ape like.

A monkey is a sub group of ape.
The theory states a COMMON ancestor. What that ancestor looked like is unknown.
It very well could have fovored modern man in great detail. But you dismiss it without knowing the theory and just follow in a mistaken belief and never learn the actual theory. What you claim is not what it states.

ROTFL I love how people didn't actally READ the question and get your meaning. They will understand we didn't come from monkeys about the time they learn evolution isn't random

Really? The story I heard is some goo turned into a fish. The fish grew legs and crawled out of the swamp. Then he grew hair. Then he shaved off the hair and became a truck driver.
Nothing about monkeys.
I'll be serious now. I don't believe evolution makes sense at all for other reasons. You are correct about the monkey thing though. I've heard both Christians and non-Christians make that mistake when talking about the theory of evolution.
I think the biggest problem is archaeologists. They seem to be spreading the rumor that the common ancestor is more ape like by digging up apes and stuff and calling them our ancestors. There is a song by "Apologetix" that parodies "The Monkees Theme Song" and makes fun of archaeologists' misleading "finds" where the truth was later found out about them. Some of the lyrics are:
They built a man from a hog's tooth - The called a lie the truth. And any time they get busted - They sell you something new.
Java Man was the skull of a gibbon
Nebraska Man was the tooth of a pig and
The Piltdown Man was a lowdown sham
They built that man from an orangutan
Ramapithicus wasn't complete; hes a fragment of jaw and a couple of teeth. Additional skeletons show us today that he isn't our relative - only an ape
Australapithicus alias Lucy - The fossil of this is just vague and confusing. The wonderful knee bone they're proud to possess was 200 feet deeper - a mile from the rest.
Neanderthal Man was prob'ly deficient In Vitamin D or it might've been rickets. But he had religion and musical instruments, fire and tools and from you he's no different.
P.S. Not that I get all my science from a song, but this one states it succinctly.

The point is that the ancestor that evolutionists say man evolved from was not man, and that the apes and man came from the same ancestor which was not man nor ape, which in essence says that God did not create man in his image, and if it is to be believed that God did use evolution to bring man to the point where he is at today, to maintain what the bible says when it says that God made man in his image, evolution would have it that that means that God made the whole of creation in his image, and so the bible must be wrong when it says that God gave man dominion over his creation, and as the bible says, but man sinned and forfeited dominion over it to the enemy of God and of man.
Evolutionists who say that they believe in God are essentially Pantheists and do not believe in a God who loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him for forgiveness of their own sin should not perish but have eternal life.

They don't get it.
I honestly believe some televangelist said that once to try to make evolution seem ridiculous and preachers have been saying it in churches ever since. Then the fundies come on here and say "We didn't come form no monkeys"
It's ridiculous, yes, but they don't even understand your question so what do you expect?

Friend, I have been a Christian for over 37 yrs. Not one time have I ever thought or said we came from apes, I have always said our soul is made in the image of God. Now you may have Christians confused with evolutionists.
