Officially you are "a British citizen" and that is the nationality your passport will show you to be. England is merely a part of Britain. It is similar elsewhere, For example somebody from California is an American citizen not a "Californian" citizen or alternatively somebody from Munich is a German citizen not a Bavarian citizen.

I believe that your nationality is British, as that is the legal status of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. However, this is at present. If Wales separates from UK then people from wales are not British anymore, but welsh. Never forget that UK is a Union of different countries.
However, saying that, since Wales is part of the UK then being Welsh is a sub-nationality. Your ethnicity is Welsh, your nationality is British. For the legal purposes and for world recognition you are British.
The same way, I am Portuguese, because I was born in Portugal. However, if I acquire British Nationality, then I will be British from Portuguese ethnicity. I have friends who are British from Chinese, or Pakistani, or Indian ethnicity, even if they were born in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland.
In resume, legally you are British, but in your heart you are English.

Isn't England a part of Britain? I would say born in England, then English. Born in Wales, then Welsh. Your nationality comes from your citizenship, which is determined from where you're born or legally immigrate to.

British refers to people who live in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. More specifically, you would be considered English. If you're born in Wales, you're considered Welsh.

You are confusing heritage and nationality. My heritage is dutch but I live in Texas. If you are born in England, well you are born there, and if you still live there you are a citizen of Great Britain or the United Kingdom, but for all we know your heritage may well be german or ethiopian.
Citizenship is determined by the country you live in not the state/county/region you are born in.
