I have been in an accident in Mexico. Not a great experience. Got taken to jail and had to post bail even though I was not at fault.
I have been in an accident in Saudi Arabia as a passenger in an Army 5 ton truck. The other driver was again at fault and was killed as a result. However the police handled it better than in Mexico.

I am an American, had a car drift into me at a gas stop in Peterborough, Ontairo while visiting friends.
Nothing really special happened, the insurance industry had a department for international claims.
