why is there crime? Are all the evil criminals those pesky minority atheists? Are all these criminals "not real Christians"?
And the strange thing is, as the country has become more secular, violent crime rates have been dropping:

Maybe the US department of justice is a part of the evil atheist/communist conspiracy. Yeah, that must be it.

Steve N: I've traveled the continents. Pretty much all places are filled with people just trying to get by. Maybe you should actually go to India or China. I've been there.

NewCatholic: *gasp* you suggest crime rates are independents of religious inclination? Heresy! No, not really. Good on you!

Why sugar-coat crime?... Crime is a crime.
Furthermore more people are living in gated communities, have camera cell phones etc. The US department of justice has nothing at all to brag about here.

I'm not sure if all these criminals could actually be classified as Christians.I can say I'm a painter does that make me one? I'm sure many criminals profess to be Christan to help secure an early release or pardon. People are on different levels of spiritual understanding which also is a factor.I'm sure there are many so called Christians engaged in unlawful endeavors. Isn't this what religions and churches are for?To minister to those in need? It's like saying medicine doesn't work. The hospitals are filled with sick people. There are more people dying now than ever before. So, it must be the science of medicine at fault.

Atheists are under-represented (relative to Christians) in America’s jails and prisons, and over-represented (relative to Christians) in the sciences and higher education.
A recent article in The Journal of Religion and Society examined the effect of religiosity on social pathology and deviant behavior. The US is the most religious of all the developed western nations. It also has higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection, teen pregnancy, and abortion than more secular and less religious societies. Within the United States, those regions that are most religious (the South and Midwest) also have higher rates of crime and socially deviant behaviors than do the more secular and less religious regions.
The study concludes that: “The United States is almost always the most dysfunctional of the developed democracies, sometimes spectacularly so, and almost always scores poorly” and that this is directly correlated with the fact that America is most religious and least secular of the developed nations.

#1: There has always been crime.
#2: Crime is everywhere, no matter where you are from or what religious beliefs make-up the founding of your country.
#3: It is easy to be a "Christian" in name-only (aka a hypocrite). Actually living a life for Christ is a totally different matter.
Your attempted correlation between crime and religion, more specifically Christianity, is a weak one.

you already know, i've got examine the full shape and nowhere in it did i come across it written that usa would be a Christian usa. The founders fairly regarded the hand of God in the introduction of usa (a minimum of maximum of them did, so it grew to enhance into actual). yet nowhere does it proclaim an exact national faith of any sort, alongside with Christianity. whilst everybody, alongside with Christians, says this may be a "Christian usa" they're probably blind to the form, to be sort, yet greater in lots of cases are in basic terms mendacity to augment thier very own doctrines and to impose them upon the full usa. we could constantly no longer could desire to circulate from one place to a diverse because of the fact of a non secular majority, any religious majority. which may be actual for the midsection eastern international, yet usa aspires to a greater conventional of liberty and freedom. Patriotic human beings can not enable any faith, Christian or otherwise, to alter that.

Actually, I think a lot of it has to do with laws that shouldn't exist (drug laws, prostitution laws, tax laws and stupid taxes). People are being DRIVEN to crime BY the government. Crime is always going to happen, even if everyone has perfect morals. And I'm not saying Christians have perfect morals; I'm an atheist.

Well, at around a 10% incarceration rate, higher than any country in the history of the world, you have to note that about 10% are also non-believers. And you just think those numbers HAPPEN to be similar?
The reason violent crime has been dropping is that the secularists have been killing each other off in a nihilistic bloodbath.

Atheists and agnostics compose over 10% of all Americans. Atheists are *so* immoral that we should just send more of them to prison to make up 10% of all inmates. That would make the Christians happy by *convincing* them that being Christian makes you more moral.
