I use to feel the same exact way, but in all honesty look at how short Barbies clothes are and most of the time they barely cover the boobs. I watched a Bratz movie once and they do support good morals. I finally decided it is up to me to raise my daughters knowing that the Bratz or Barbies are far from reality, even for boys, do they look like the Super Hero they are playing with, is it reality they think they can fly. It is not really about the toys it is about what you teach them. My daughters play exactly the same things with the Bratz as they do with Barbies and we have discussed that no one really looks like a Bratz or a Barbie. I agree their are better role models but I do not look to people for their example, I am trying to show them by who I am and how I handle things for what a woman should be.
And to all you saying if they play with them they dress like them get real. Do your kids dress like Dora or the Doodlebops or who ever you allow them to play with?
My daughters dress very modestly, in fact I have trouble finding non hoochy clothes no matter where I shop and not because of Bratz dolls because of clothing manufacturers and society.

Not only do i not allow her to play with the bratz but barbies as well. Yes, they do dress very skanky but so do the new barbies, noticed the new "model" line? They are wearing fishnet stockings! My reasons are this, one they did a survey a while ago and the results just came back that 99% of girls that played with barbies had a bad self esteem. I don't want to do that to my daughter ever, there are other girls that are good role modles as you stated, baby dolls are fine even the kelly dolls are fine. Two, they dress very trashy, another thing my daughter does not need to see, that teaches her that dressing like that is okay. Its not, as we all know.

There are very few toys in our home that are on the banned list. The banned list means that if someone gifts my child with this (and they all know my banned list) it is either immediately returned or donated to a charity.
Bratz is the #1 banned toy. They are little whores in my opinion. Children need dolls as part of development. Barbie & Polly Pockets are good dolls. Boys have their 'action figures'. The Bratz merchandise isn't allowed in our home either. My daughter (8) knows that Bratz aren't allowed because they dress provocatively (or in her words - they don't dress like young ladies & wear too much make up).
Barney is the other thing banned in our home - but that is just because he is so freaking annoying.

My husband and I both completely agree with you. He hates the BRATZ dolls even more than I do. They're horrible pieces of trash that are marketed at young girls and promote poor body image. One of my friends has a 7 year old obsessed with BRATZ dolls. She has the dolls, the clothing, everything. My daughter is only 22 months old but if the dolls are still around when she's a young girl she won't be having one.
Have you seen the BRATZ babies??!

I did not
I belive it is the way you raise your daughter and not what her dolls wear.
My daughter never wished to dress like this-in fact she only likes longer shorts, hated skirts until this summer. She is 11 and not playing with dolls anymore but if you give her good models to begin with-it will not affect her. If you buy your daughter(not you personally) hoochie mama clothes then you are responsible.
My daugher had a ton of brats BUT her old models are Jane Godall(she wants to work in that field), Mia Hamm.
She loved Hilary Duff but got turned off when she lost all that weight!
She believes in saving the environment and helping animals and animal cruelty.
So I would say she is doing quite alright!

I do not let my daughter play with Bratz and she never has. I am ok with Barbie but at times she gets a little risky, but for the most part she is good. To me Bratz just look nasty the way their faces with the looks and it is just too much. I know when she is out with other girls they might play with them but at least I can put the idea in her head that young girls should not act or dress like they do.

MY HAND IS RAISED!!!!!!!!!!
I think them BRAT dolls are nasty looking and give of the wrong message to kids.
Kids just aren't allowed to be kids anymore.
I mean, 6 year olds are wearing heels, wanting bras and wearing more make-up than i ever will in my life.
My 6 year old neice actually insists on wearing thongs, i was outraged!
People look at me like i have two heads when i tell them how much my 3y/o and 18m/o daughters love nothing more than to chase the dogs and ponies and dive right into a mud puddle and have mud fights and water fights and food fights, and that they just love being kids the way kids should be. They don't give a sh!t if their nails are muddy and their hair has hay in it, they get a bath afterward and plus we live in rural texas, lol so they are cowgirls to the core......not brats....
I really hate the Brats dolls and my kids will never have one, nor will they watch their shows.
I'm not old fashioned or a snob, i just don't want my kids to grow up thinking that appearences are """everything""" and that in order to get noticed they have to wear cut of jeans with stiletoes and an entire case of makeup. I don't look at celebrities, i'm not in the least interested. There is no perfect roll model, i just hope my kids grow up being themselves in a very honest unprovocative way and not materialistic either like some of my in-laws kids. I'm just glad my girls love blues clues and the backyardigans and are more content with just playing in the yard and pretend wrestling with their dad lol
""""just how kids should be"""""

I don't allow my girls to play with "Bratz" either. They dress to provocatively and the name irritates me. I don't want my children think that being a "Brat" is an exceptable thing. Keep up the good work your well on your way to raising fine, upstanding futures of america. Dolls and Celebrities such as these teach are children (girls especially) that they have no self worth other than what the opposite sex thinks of us, and that the only way to achieve that kind of exceptance is dress skadely. Mothers need to teach their girls that they are more then the clothes that they ware, and that true beauty is found under the skin not on it. Besides do we really want the attention of the type of men that is attracted to cheap women.

I totally agree. Not only are the BRAT dolls dressed like hookers, but in the movies, they all need attitude adjustments. I do not allow my daughter to play with them.

I don't limit mine. I have three girls and they all have played with barbie and bratz. They are beautiful wonderful girls that I am proud to say have all instilled in their heads that everyone is beautiful and they are all friends with many different kinds of kids. I don't think it has much to do with the dolls they play with but how you teach them to respect everyone no matter how they are or look.
