I've just booked my flight to Chicago, and i entered my frequent flyer mile code (30,000+ miles) for first class, but i'm not getting any prices changed? the customer service said that i would have a free first class flight, but nothing is changed, its still the same original price?

I find it hard to believe they will give you a (free) ticket with first class for 30,000 miles since basically a domestic, economy flight is 25,000 miles. You better check again.

are you using your miles to upgrade a ticket you purchased?

Because 30,000 miles will barley get you a regular fare flight in the contenental US.

you need to check on this becuase most airlines it requires 25l to 30k in FF miles to get a coach ticket.

Some airlines will let you use miles to upgrade you current (full fare) ticket to business class or 1dt class. but if you are doing that dont. at time of check in if there is space availible most airlines will let you upgrade for a fee to 1st class if you are a FF member. I did this once and it only cost me 50.00. if there was more than one leg to my flight it would have cost me 50.00 per leg.

I would definatley lookinto this, I fly about 40 times a year mostly trans contennetal i have 5 different airlines FF programs and I dont even start paying attention to them until they are over 75k

Yes, you must have received an upgrade. A free ticket would not seem reasonable..

It sounds like you got an upgrade rather than a free flight, which would mean that you pay the economy fare.

Round the world is awesome no matter if you are the pilot or the passenger- best to take turns at though! Usually the passenger gets real fidgety and that is when it time for the pilot to take a break and relax for a while. My airline requires no points- just that you have heart and soul in the flight!

You have to specifically "Book Award Travel" on the airline's web site, which is usually a different set of buttons and menus than a traditional ticket.

Also, be aware that seats are capacity controlled.
