I think I would ask my uncle if he could finish the job by a certain date. If he could not I would take to shop.

It doesn't sound like there is much advantage to involving your uncle except the possibility that he might feel slighted otherwise. But how upset will he be, really, to have one less thing to do? If it were me, I'd be relieved!
Ask your friends where they take their cars and take yours there. It sounds like you have a very supportive family. Thank them for their goodheartedness and generosity with their time. Tell them it is silly for you to impose on them when everyone else in the world just goes to the shop. If you are gracious, no one should be offended.

if it took a month to have it repaired by your uncle last time, you probably need to be willing to wait another month for this repair, if you choose to have him fix the car.
if it were me, i'd shop around for the best price at reputable repair shops, and take it from there.
take care.

take it to a transmission place, i just had my transmission replaced. most places will look at your car and diagnos it for free or maybe a small fee...find out what's wrong with it and then make your decision. if you have your uncle fix it make sure he knows you need it back immediately if possible.

take it to a shop...i understand that if you're going to be giving someone your money, you would rather it be your uncle..however if you are going to give him your time, he should give you his. just becuase you are related to him, doesnt mean you get put second. you need your car so send it to someone who will give you the service you need.

take it to the shop. You have more power over the transaction and can voice your demands or disagreements without bringing family into it.
