There is a 20 step ladder mounted vertically on the side of a boat.
Each step is 10” from the next.
The 5th step from the bottom is just under the water.
If the water level rises 4’ how many steps will be under the water?

u almost got me
i was about 2 say 9 but
then i realized that when the water rises, so will the boat and the ladder
so there are still 5 steps underwater

5... the ladder is MOUNTED to the boat... the fifth step being just underwater... as the water rises.. so does the boat.

third - 18 inches above water
fourth - 8 inches above water
fifth - 2 inches under water
sixth - 12 inches under water
