That's because you've crossed from "person of faith" to "fanatical religious zealot" with one stupid decision.
Congratulations.
EDIT:
Oh.. and yes. It's right for them to ostracize you.
Afterall, when you inevitably snap and blow up an abortion clinic, or murder a bunch of people because "God" told you to... they don't want to be implicated, now, do they?

They are obviously religious bigots and such people have the same character structure as racial bigots. A bigot is a bigot is a bigot. Obviously,a religious bigot is not neccessarily a racial bigot, but all bigotry operates on the same basic premise, namely that people - individuals - are to be scorned and abused because of their memebership in a particular group. You are better off not knowing them. I see from the atheist responses - some of which indicate a desire for active persecution - that their evil disposition is once again on clear display. Thank God our Constitution forbids religious persecution. Think what psycopaths like Bettierage and those others would do to you and your children if they thought they could get away with it. The only reason they don't kill Christians en masse is because of our democratic system; in China, they'd make short work of us.

I'm with your neighbors. You aren't doing it for any reason other than to be morbid, certainly not as a Christian who typically do such a thing to mark a gravesite or the scene of a deadly accident. They are fleeing from your necrotic and sacriligious nature which is the mark of a disturbed mind.

White crosses on the side of the road normally signifies that someone died there in a car accident.
So, you seem to have had a massive car accident in your front yard :-D
That may be one reason why they don't like them, the other being perhaps they feel you would attack them if they put up a symbol of thier faith. How would you feel if your neighbor put up a giant pentacle in their yard?

Maybe if you added the names of some family members and friends, people would bring you flowers to help decorate your yard and spice it up a little........
And some of those six-point star thingies you see at Christmas time.

This is America people are free to ostracize you as much as you are free to put white crosses on your lawn.

If you go back and read the 4 gospels, that was how Jesus was treated! Funny thing was that he was treated that way by more of the religious people than the outcast!

Next time along with the crosses erect a large stone carving of a middle finger. Then sell your house to undesirables,...muslims, politicians, palm readers, etc.. etc....
LIVE FREE, PISS ON THEM!!!!

They should not ostracize you. They should compliment you.
It's the people who put gnomes out in their yard that should be ostracized.
Try adding flowers to the crosses, that might make your neighbors nicer.
