"I think Wiccans like to keep a low profile here so that atheists direct there hatred towards the Christians and not at them. It's hard to ridicule something if you have no idea what it is."

Do you think it is more that christians are always telling you your wrong and should convert, etc... which would make anyone angry (lol) and most pagans pretty much tell you "whatever makes you happy"?

Or do you think the above statement is true?

And please, any Christians, I am asking ATHEISTS their opinions. Thank you. :)

Moiraes Fate: B/c it was what the quote said. Why would I ask fellow Wiccans what atheists thought of them? I wanted to go straight to the source and ask any atheists on the site what *their* opinions were.
Plus, as you said you're both. I guess I get both sides. :-D

I think this perfectly portrays something that most christians and muslims seem to completely miss: It's *you* and the way some of you live your religion, and want others to live it, that most atheists "go after".
I honestly don't care what religion you are.
However, I can tell you that I don't remember hearing about any pagans blowing anyone up because they weren't pagan.
Nor can I recall any pagans trying to get constitutional amendments passed against a particular group of Americans based on their personal pagan dogma.
If they ever did such things, you can be sure that we atheists would take them to task as well.
Hope that helps.

I suspect I'd live happily as an atheist in world of Wiccans. At the moment they're sweet, and kindly (apart from the occasional vile temptress) and harm no one.

If every Christian became a Wiccan overnight, the world would be a hugely better place.

Personally, I'm ten times more likely to think ill of a Christian than a Wiccan. I've never met an angry or spiteful Wiccan. Christians on the other hand....

Why is this directed to Atheists and not Wiccans when your quote addressed Wiccans?

To answer the question, as an Atheist and a Wiccan, I do not care what someone elses religion is, they can worship as they want and who they want, so long as they butt out of my life.

I think that wicca is not the trendy religion it once was in the 90s. I also don't think the atheists would be as openly disdainful of wiccans seeing as how wiccans generally tend to be less damning of others. Imagine the dilemas of a satanist.

The response of atheists on this site is DEFENSE. If Wiccans attacked atheists, they too would see a little action. Since that isn't how any religion besides the Abrahamic ones operates, the response of atheists is nearly exclusively reserved for those religions, Christianity being the biggest offender on this site.

Yep, the Wiccans and such tend not to annoy me as much. I don't have as much personal experience with them, and I also don't think most of them believe in literal gods. I always figured they used gods more as metaphors than anything else. Plus, mythological gods are pretty interesting characters.

That doesn't mean I'm ever likely to believe in any sort of paganism. My rejection of the supernatural covers all forms of it.

I think there are more posts regarding Christianity, and more or less, i would say Atheists in the USA know more about Christianity than other religions.

A joint of those two reasons is why i think Christianity sees more posts from Atheists.

You could define keeping a low profile as not kicking people in the shins. Yes the people who kick you in the shins will make you angry.

Pagans are not "in your face".

Beyond the obvious hatred so many "Christians" display, they would attack personal liberties and education, given the authority. It is sticks and stones.

I think most Wiccans here act better than most of the Christians.
