I have a word doc, the first two pages of which are supposed to have no page numbers, the next five are supposed to have roman numbers starting with ii, and the next few hundred are supposed to have normal arabic numbers, starting with 1. How do I set this up within one word doc? Could someone quickly explain this to me?

Thank you!

Just go to Insert > Break > Section Break. That should solve the problem for you.

Also, remember when you are setting up your page numbers to turn off the repeat effect in the header/footer toolbar if you want different pages to say different things.

Each time you want to change the style of pages numbers, you need to insert a section break. You can then configure each section to use its own page number style in the header/footer settings.
