I got pulled over this morning in NY (Pembroke-between Rochester & Buffalo). I got 2 tickets 1st for going 86 in a 65 for speeding and 2nd for being on my cell phone.

Any advice? What do I do? This is my first violation ever and been driving for about 6 years.

How much do you think my ticket will be? Would I end up with pts on my license? What did you do?

I am asking for advice not critics. So those of you who have nothing to advice don't bother. Acting like you never ever speed. I agree it was my fault but don't act like you don't ever speed.

20 plus MPH over and talking on the phone. ya better hope for a nice judge. They are really cracking down on cell phone usage while driving. I got a speeding ticket going 77 in a 65 and it was like 114 bucks. and that was several years ago. that with the cell phone may run ya upwards of 300. (depending on the local laws). as for points, that also depends on the judge i believe. When/if you go infront of a judge, just be polite and courtious and don't show any attitude. if they just send you a fee, then theres not much you can do.

Yes you will get points on your license. I'd say to fight it, but from the sound of it you know you were in the wrong. Being on a cell phone while driving in NY is against the law in itself, but speeding on top of it isn't only illegal, it was a dumb move AND dangerous on top of it. You are looking at prolly anywhere from $200-$400, I'd even go as much as a whopping $500

You're going to get a hefty ticket no matter what you do. Yes you will end up with points on your license.

No offense, you deserve what you get. People who talk on cell phones while they drive have no clue how bad they drive. On top of that you're doing 86MPH? You're lucky you didnt kill someone.

Pay the fine and get on with your life. Just dont make the same mistakes twice or Darwin will have something to say about you.

Plead not guilty and got to court to talk to the officer. Explain to hime that it is your first violation and see if he will reduce the points and/or fine. Most of the time, if your not a repeat offender, they just want the money and will be happy to reduce the charges for a guilty plea and a reduced fine

Your ticket is going to be a whopper. Over 20 miles per hour and caught speeding? What were you thinking?

Well I'm Canadian but this advice might still work, my Dad was fined for speeding and didn't have to go to court because he admitted he was speeding and they had him recorded when he said it, they reduced his fine significantly because of that.

Read your ticket. You can call the court and waive trial (plead guilty/no contest). They will tell you exactly how much your ticket is and how many points it will be.

Advice?

Don't speed and don't talk on your cellphone.

I commend the police for getting you off the road before you kill someone.
