Creation and Science are one and the same. God made all things, men are just having trouble deciphering the truth.
From the void of nothingness (Spirit), God created all things that are physical with thought (faith.) He created it as science explains it. Science is not contrary to God, it is His gift to us to explain the miracle of creation and life to us. In the beginning He created all the atoms, elements, molecules and compounds that we know today. He created them in one mass and exploded them into the Universe. The stars and planets were formed and eventually all things evolved as science explains it (man included.) This was God’s intent and purpose. When man had evolved to the point where he could reason, God created Adam to bring the knowledge of Himself to all mankind. This is why God made Adam from the Earth (Physical) and breathed His life into him (Spiritual.) Adam had to be part Earth (physical) and part God (just as Jesus – The Second Adam was.) This gave Adam the knowledge of God that he and his lineage could impart to the rest of mankind (the evolved humans – the Gentiles.)
These evolved humans were the men who Cain was afraid would slay him after he killed Abel and they were the wives of Adam and Eve’s sons. The Bible says that the ‘the Sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were fair and took them wives from all that they chose.’ Adam and Eve were not the first humans created, they were the first Jews, and their sons were the Sons of God, the first of the chosen lineage who would bring the knowledge of God to all humankind.
God really does exist and Jesus really was His Son. The Bible is true, it just needs to be properly understood. God is not sitting there waiting to ‘smite’ us, He loves us and leads us into all righteousness, which is really just loving others as we love ourselves.

Considering the creation myth in my religion is a parable... There's no reason evolution/natural selection wouldn't harmonize with my religious views.

To deny the similarity's and greatness of the world/the universe. To say, that's not how it was! Means you discredit your god for any of the work in life. Who's to say everything finite in how it works, new discovery's should take their place in religion as well as the world. Adam and Eve might have been a monkey, and it may have been a banana instead of a apple. For all you know god comes from the planet of the apes. But all in all he'd still be god. He just wouldn't have our ugly mugs'.

Its not like the bible is a picture book.

As an agnostic I have the answer for all comers on any topic. You may be right.

My Catholic parents feel that when man evolved into what God called "man" [be that cro-magnon, or homo-habilis, who knows] he "created" a soul for him and God started the first amino acids getting it on in the primordial soup with us in mind, or if pushed back God was at -1 seconds of the Big Bang.

They may be right.:)

Wow, what a lousy view of God that limits him to a 4,000 year old book. Space travel and modern medicine also are against the Old Testament. Heck, cotton and polyester weave is against the old testament. Check your t-shirt tag for ye may be wearing an anathema unto God.

Actually, evolution depends on natural selection. Natural selection, specialization and genetic compatibility are inseparable. I am not religious. I am, however quite spiritual. The golden rule works for me.

Yes.

Doesnt disprove SOMETHING created the beginning of everything. Only that the natural events in this world lead to us.

Plus I also believe the God & Goddess are in everything and a part of everything. Makes sense to me.

Depends upon how the theories are stated. If natural section is stated as to either exclude God's guidance or to include God's guidance, then I would object.

Yes.
Because my religion does not account for the history of human origins. It only accounts for human psychology and metaphysics. That leaves human origins up to science, not faith.
