Did you make an honest effort to find out who it belonged to?

As a kid in a bank, I found a wad of bills over $500 on the ground. I looked up and saw a man taking his hand out of his pocket so I guessed it fell from there. I asked the man if he lost any money. He checked his pocket and panicked. I said its ok. I found it. He thanked me and gave me $2 as a reward.

I found a bag stuffed full of $100 bills one time. It was buried in a bale of reefer that washed up on the beach in South Florida over 30 years ago.

I didn't try to find the owners of either the money or the dope.

a 100 dollar chip under a table in a casino........ no, I didn't try to find out who it belonged to, because once I found it, it belonged to me. On the other hand I found a wallet laying on the counter in a store, and I saw the person that left it, (they were in line ahead of me) and ran and gave it to them. I couldn't keep it, because I KNEW who it belonged to.
